Pattinson is taking a very interesting path. From working with Cronenberg (twice) and then James Gray and now this.

Oh shit. Oh shit. The director gives me pause, as I really didn't like Christine, but there is so much potential here!
Guys, if you haven't read the novel, what the hell are you waiting for?

Pattinson made a great career move by starring in all those shitty Twilight movies. Because of that franchise, he is set for life financially (his net worth is around $100 million) so now he can just pursue passion projects .

Very happy that Mia Wasikowska is in this, thought she was M.I.A. (haha) after these few quite past years. The cast seems to be great.

Those are some really bold choices for the roles.

Those are some really bold choices for the roles. Who the hell is Letts playing? Uncle Earskell? Letts is closer to how I pictured the sheriff rather than Evans. It's kinda remarkable how glamorous this cast is. He'd be a solid enough Uncle Earskell, I suppose . . . or maybe he's playing Theodore? That'd be a bit more fucked up. Oh wait, he's probably playing Carl. I just hope they get Michael Shannon for Willard.

Carl I pictured younger (unless I'm forgetting something from the book) but I guess that would make sense... actually I think Evans as Carl might have been more interesting... and Shea Whigham as Lee! Shit man... I don't know. Wasikowska as... can't remember her name but she was.... associated with Roy. Maggie Gyllenhaal as Sandy would be cool... Shannon doesn't appear to have much on his plate according to IMDb... time to start a petition.

sourceFirst I've heard of Clarke (Willard?), Keough, and Skarsgard being in the cast... not bad.

Harry Melling joined the cast.
I bet he's playing Theodore, in which case, this cast is shaping up nicely indeed.

Bill Skarsgård as Willard sounds... confusing. But maybe he could pull it off.
Most excited for Clarke/Keough and Pattinson.......
Please let this not be fucked up... based DRP deserves the best.

Honestly, I think Skarsgård could work. He kinda looks like a young Michael Shannon at times, and I think he'd bring a fantastic bit of intensity to the role. He just needs to project his physicality more. You get around to The Heavenly Table, by any chance?

I jut don't buy Holland as Skarsgård's kid. They're way too close in age.

Don't know anything about the novel, but you guys seem crazily excited for this, which makes me very very curious about what kind of thing we're dealing here with.
Holland is the lead, right? And what's the meatiest supporting role in this (based on the source material)? Willard? The Pattinson one?
I have problems adjusting myself to the modern world, I'm kinda stuck in the 90s when it comes to getting excited about certain actors 😄. So just to help me out a bit, how would this thing have looked like casting wise around the late 80s/early 90s?
Thanks!

It's an ensemble piece, so while Holland's Arvin is the closest thing you have to a protagonist, he's not necessarily the meatiest role. For me, that'd be whoever plays Roy (which I suppose is Harry Melling), followed by Sandy and Carl (Keough and Clarke). None of the roles are particularly Oscar-friendly, though; this is a dark book with dark characters.

Our Michael Shannon dream was too good to be true. Finally bought a copy of The Heavenly Table a month or so ago... it will be read this summer come hell or high water.

I really hope it gets the auteur miniseries treatment. It just begs for a John Hillcoat type to tackle it. I almost wish he hadn't made Lawless, because that cast would've been perfect for this book.
