Saw this last night and wow, this was honestly one of the worst edited movies I've seen in a long time... and not just on a global level, but within scenes as well. It was almost completely incoherent and literally felt like half the movie was missing. This played like a bunch of scenes just strung together haphazardly with no rhyme or reason. Interactions between characters don't make sense because there seems to be a scene missing somewhere, other characters disappear for large chunks of time and then reappear because they're suddenly relevant again for some reason, and you often don't know why or how we arrived at a certain scene. It's never clear when something is a flashback or if it's happening in the present. I came out of the theater not really knowing what I just watched...this barely even qualifies as a movie, it's such a jumbled mess. I actually sort of recommend watching it just to experience an exemplar case of how not to make a movie lol. Like I'm not even joking when I say that it should be studied in film classes scene by scene, it's so stunningly incompetent.
This film could have been just a pedestrian, cliche police procedural... but instead it's that on top of being amateurishly made. I really don't understand how you fuck up a movie this badly, especially a filmmaker like Alfredson. I kind of want to see a documentary on what went down behind the scenes because that would almost certainly be more engaging than this film.

Could be this year's Collateral Beauty.
