It seems like people are really eating up that “we live in a society” line Never let it be said that Zack Snyder doesn't know his base.

I'll give it a shot since I have HBO Max. The trailer was decent enough

Upon learning that Joker is going to say "we live in a society" my projected rating for this went from like a 3/10 to at least a 10/10. That was the only thing missing from Joker 2018, he came so close in the interview scene but danced around saying the exact magic words.

Hopefully this is okay even if it’s sort of OT.

Honestly, I think Leto is now my favorite Joker. Phoenix lived in a society, but Leto actually has the courage to tell all of us that we live in a society and make us deal with it. An Oscar might not be good enough for this performance, I'm thinking more like a Nobel Peace Prize.

The Joker asks Batman “who’s going to give [him] a reach around” if he kills him.

Reviews for this cut are all over the place, but are kind of on par for a Zack Snyder project. Even the trades are spilt. Variety says it's better than the Avengers movies (though the critic isn't really a big fan of Marvel films, so take that for whatever it's worth), while The Hollywood Reporter says it's still as shit as the Joss Whedon version, just longer. Currently 75% on Rotten Tomatoes with 104 reviews counted, but 55% with Top Critics. 54 on Metacritic, so it seems the majority of major critics aren't really convinced it's a massive improvement. Most reviews are pointing out that Ray Fisher now has the standout performance in the Snyder cut.

I never saw the theatrical Whedon version because honestly the reviews were atrocious, but I guess I'm going to have to spare 4 hours ( ) for this marathon of a film.

sirchuck23 Yeah, I'm gonna check this out as well (4 hours though!?! ). But I'm a bit more apprehensive than you since I have unfortunately seen the original Whedon version, and I'm worried about the reviews saying it's basically the same movie, but longer and with better visual effects. At the same time, the new cut has enough defenders to really pique my curiosity to see if Snyder did indeed salvage that trainwreck.

Feels like the reactions to his performance here could finally make Ray Fisher a star. So it's understandable why he campaigned so hard for the Snyder cut. It will be interesting to see where his career goes, because he has undoubtedly made some huge enemies in the industry (he's basically calling for Warner Brothers head of DC Films Walter Hamada to resign for trying to cover up the Whedon investigation). But he's got some major leverage with being seen by many as the new cuts standout actor. And Snyder's fanbase will go to bat for him, so he arguably has a bigger potential following than many actors getting more opportunities currently. It'll be interesting to see if other studios want to work with him after waging war on Warner Brothers top brass so relentlessly.

Um...I’m going to say other studios are not going to want to work with him for $100 Alex.

Um...I’m going to say other studios are not going to want to work with him for $100 Alex. LOL! Maybe, but like I said, he has a genuine following, which is golddust for an actor. And percieved popularity can get the industry to have short term memories. His character trailer for Cyborg last week actually trended worldwide higher than all the other Justice League characters ( Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman etc). If he has a half decent agent, I honestly wouldn't be shocked to hear him announced as the new lead in some action movie for a streaming service like Amazon or Netflix. He's the kind of actor that streamers like to hire, especially because he has a strong social media presence.
