Okay, it's good to see a lot of actresses are speaking out. I was mainly looking to the ones like Streep and Lawrence because they love to be vocal about issues like this, so it would have been disappointing if they were being selective about their outrage. I think Streep put out a good statement. I just wonder how many actresses will speak out that were part of his casting couch. That would be interesting! But let's talk about the real assholes like Matt Damon who love to be all self-righteous in public, bashing politicians and the like, when behind-the-scenes he made moves to cover up what was going on. He bothers me because he is the type of man who would be so vocal about bashing the Catholic Church for covering up for priests while he's making similar moves in his own backyard! www.vulture.com/2017/10/damon-crowe-reportedly-helped-kill-nyt-weinstein-article.html?utm_source=tw&utm_medium=s3&utm_campaign=sharebutton-bThough the New York Times has been widely celebrated for its article exposing decades of sexual-harassment accusations against Harvey Weinstein, one journalist claims the paper sat on an earlier article detailing the producer’s misconduct. Sharon Waxman, founder of the Wrap, writes that her own investigate reporting, which took her on an international trip to uncover rumors of Weinstein’s sexual misconduct, was cut from the Times in 2004 under pressure from several Hollywood elites. Waxman alleges in the Wrap that Matt Damon and Russell Crowe called her “directly” to dispel the reports she was following about Miramax’s Italian head Fabrizio Lombardo, who was allegedly hired “to take care of Weinstein’s women needs.” She says that because of their influence, and interference from Weinstein, whose company was a big advertiser in the Times, the article was edited to remove the more salacious details. Damon and Crowe had previously worked with Weinstein on pictures like Good Will Hunting, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, and Cinderella Man. Waxman claims that the gutted story could have exposed Weinstein much earlier. “I had people on the record telling me Lombardo knew nothing about film, and others citing evenings he organized with Russian escorts,” Waxman said. She also alleges that she tracked down an intern in London who had been paid off in a settlement with Weinstein. “I was devastated after traveling to two countries and overcoming immense challenges to confirm at least part of the story that wound up running last week, more than a decade later,” she writes. Vulture has reached out to representatives for Matt Damon and Russell Crowe for a comment. This post will be updated if more information becomes available.

Curious to see what Damon and Crowe have to say. I don't know what kind of explanation they would have. It seems like everyone knew something. And there has to be more Weinstein's out there.

Matt was also in overdrive defending his buddy Casey during awards season. He also blamed JLO for Ben's slump while they dated.

Rose McGowan has been talking about this and trying to open up a dialogue about it for years. Good for her. I never had a doubt in my mind that she was telling the truth and always felt that she was more sincere than most in the industry. I'm glad she was able to see her rapist brought to a justice of sorts.
I guess I should applaud Meryl Streep for speaking out, but she is so full of shit. Yeah I'm sure she knew nothing of this in her 40 year career which included several collaborations with Harvey. She even called him God when she won her 3rd Oscar.
I love how the largest paragraph in her statement is a defense of herself and what she didn't know, rather than denouncing his actions. And even though she's become very outspoken on this sort of thing, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say she won't use any industry award speech as a platform to trash him the way she did with Trump. She's so phony and typical Hollywood, an activist when convenient .

I'm confused about the Matt Damon/Russell Crowe bit. Would they really have the power to shit down the New York Times?

If those stories are true , then I'm truly disgusted with both Damon and Crowe.

He seems to be making a lot of excuses on behalf of Hollywood and trying to paint this situation into a broader picture. Yes, of course this fits into a broader problem George, but you and other Hollywood powerhouses have a opportunity to actually focus on and fix the problems within Hollywood. This statement, along with so many of the others released by actors, actresses and others over the last couple of days, is full of platitudes and excuses. Weinstein needs to be blasted for sure, as he's a disgusting and abusive bastard. I would really like to see some of these stars also blast the culture which seems to exist in Hollywood, that appears to foster a feeling of security in 'men' like Weinstein and lead them to believe that they are untouchable enough to behave so abhorrently.

So why is everyone afraid of speaking out against Polanski? The amount of support that that child molester is still getting is incredibly baffling and upsetting to me.

Jennifer Lawrence put out a statement too this morning. So why is everyone afraid of speaking out against Polanski? Hollywood politics. Protecting their own. In fact, I believe Weinstein himself was one of the main people getting the ball rolling on that petition that they were sending around and the sheep of Hollywood were signing.

I'm all ears .... “I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behavior. I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting. “My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward.”

They embrace powerful and meaningful movies such as THE ACCUSED and SPOTLIGHT and yet still protect sex offenders such as Polanski and Weinstein. Sad irony

4 years I post in the IMDB boards, that many actresses won oscars 4 having sex with the producer, 4 nepotism, o 4 being the wife of a heavyweight.
Even George Clooney confess that in the 90s the were rumours the devil slept with many actress 4 movie roles, and probably 4 Oscar too.

Maybe too 1999, but Gwyneth is publishing photos of the mountains, and her BF Chelsea Handler simple ignore the issue.
Coincidence?

Do you think Gwyneth fucked the big W ? 4 many years I thougth that was her parent with Spielberg connection that help with the role. Then I thought OK this is just an urban legend. But right now, I think that, explain everything. Specially when Clooney confess that he knew that in the 90s many actresses sleep with him 4 movie roles. And I'm not thinking in just Paltrow, many gorgeous actresses won Oscar with Harvey as producer and Oscar Publicist. I think all except Dench, Close and Paquin are suspicious. I don't think that Streep, who was too famous, or Lawrence who was almost a minor age (and a last minute replacement) slept with him. Dont think that Holly Hunter slept with him either. But I couldn't swear 4 their honour. The other Weinstein actresses who won oscar 4 Harvey films, aren't carmelite nuns.-

Do you think Gwyneth fucked the big W ? I do. If we look at Miramar releases from back in the day, we will get an idea. I also wouldn't be surprised if alicia vikander did. She just seems like she would do that.
