Sweet! Should be interesting to see what Cameron has up his sleeve this time around (and if anyone knows how to knock it out of the park with sequels, its Cameron!) Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

They are grossly overestimating the Avatar universe's appeal. What was once a unique experience is now just every other Friday.

While you probably have a point, I just can't doubt James Cameron at this point . Cameron excels at making sequels (T2, Aliens) both of which had a lot of time in between them. Should be interesting to see what Cameron has up his sleeve this time around . I definitely do not think it'll make more money in America than the 1st one BUT China's market has grown soooo much, I can easily see it making a shit ton there & in other markets . If the Fast & the Furious can be successful there, then certainly a sci fi film by James Cameron can too. We shall see though.

The dude usually knows what he's doing, even if it sounds insane. That being said so much of that money could have gone to the poor, MADMAN!!!

If Avatar 2 has good reviews, people will be sitting in theaters like the first one did

Report From DEADLINE: EXCLUSIVE: Kate Winslet and James Cameron have a little history. Two decades ago she starred in his global juggernaut Titanic, which was the top-grossing film of all time until Cameron’s Avatar came along in 2009. Now the two are reuniting for the first time since the Big Boat sailed — Winslet has signed on for a starring role in the ongoing Avatar adventure at Fox.“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career,” Cameron said. “I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”Winslet stars opposite Idris Elba in The Mountain Between Us which opens this Friday. The Reader Oscar winner next appears in Woody Allen’s Wonder Wheel for Amazon, which opens December 1. She will also star in eOne’s untitled biopic about American photojournalist and war correspondent Elizabeth “Lee” Miller. Her other recent credits include Collateral Beauty, Triple 9, The Dressmaker and Steve Jobs. Production for all four planned Avatar sequels officially began on September 25 in Manhattan Beach, CA. The first film will be released on December 18, 2020. The second sequel will open on December 17, 2021, followed by Avatar 4 in December 20, 2024 and Avatar 5 on December 19, 2025

Holy crap! I'm actually excited for an Avatar sequel now. PS. I don't want to brag... well, I kinda do, I predicted this back on IMDb.

"Alright, the Marvel girl and that Sam Werthingman kid had their fun playing with the Box-Office crown I lent them, but I'm taking it back now. I'll send my butler J. Cameron to fetch it right after Amazon finally ships my second golden paper weight, which they've had in stock for me for a while now. There was the most unfortunate mix-up with Ikea two years ago."

Wait so this movie is an actual thing now?
That's annoying.

Weird. I am not sure if that is a good career move…

IMDb is of course subject to change and isn't always trustworthy, but it's interesting that she's currently credited in Avatar 2 only, meanwhile the other new and previous cast members are also credited for 3, 4, and 5 (and some are apparently being filmed at the same time).

Weird. I am not sure if that is a good career move… The movie should be big, and she'll make millions. It's a great career decision.

bump Avatar 2 & 3 are now in post production ! And take it with a grain of salt but the sequel titles have apparently been revealed . The BBC has “seen documentation” which seems to confirm the titles of the new films, listing them as Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa. www.denofgeek.com/us/movies/avatar/277384/avatar-sequels-titles-revealedI'll admit those are some goofy ass titles ("The Seed Bearer"??! ) but James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is... James Cameron.
