Very good trailer. Seems they might make a great movie this time. I liked both episodes 7 and 8 but I'm expecting much more from the ending of the saga.

As long as they don't retcon anything from The Last Jedi I'm there. I've been terrified that this movie would be nothing but a lukewarm apology for TLJ (which is hands down the best SW film since Empire), but this trailer was AMAZING. Crossing my fingers JJ gets the job done. Apparently it's still shooting and they're testing six endings, which sounds disastrous, but at least it will for sure look pretty.

It's getting released in less than two months and they are still shooting????? It's getting released in less than two months and they don't know the ending???? Really hard to believe it's true...

What I heard was that the test endings are mainly to test different timings and sequencings but the events themselves are still the same. And the reshoots lasted just under 2 weeks and ended earlier this month. So hopefully it's more about fine-tuning rather than a disaster of a production.

I despised Rogue One and could notice the reshoots all over it, so I was worried this would be another scenario like that (and Justice League and Suicide Squad). My god the trailer is amazing. I'm a HUGE fan of The Last Jedi, so my only thoughts about TRoS have been worries that they're going to undo all of Rian Johnson's creative decisions and turn Rey into a Skywalker or some bullshit. But now I'm cautiously optimistic that it could actually be good. One thing about the trailer: 3PO's line was amazing and confirms my belief that Star Wars is more about friendship than family. The most important part of the first film is Han returning to save his friends. Empire begins with Luke being rescued by his friends, then Luke goes against his Jedi master and attempts to rescue his friends, only to be rescued again. RotJ begins with Han getting rescued by his friends, and it ends with Luke saying, "Your overconfidence is your weakness," to which the Emperor replies, "Your faith in your friends is yours." The best plot decision in TFA was to have Finn lie in order to try rescuing his friend Rey, and TLJ is entirely about Rey attempting to get Luke off his ass to go rescue his friends once more. So the dialogue in this trailer strikes a real chord with me.

I’ve been down on this movie from pretty much the moment they announced Palpatine would be coming back. Like many, I’ve shifted my space opera attention towards Dune next year (yeah, bandwagon-ing ) but having totally missed the trailer release last night (a first for me, a friend texted me YouTube link just now), I’ve realized that there’s nothing here for me besides how hot Oscar Isaac looks... and I guess I’ll be getting that in Dune as well.
tl;dr: 75% sure I’ll skip this.

At least it will be interesting to see how JJ deals with the disaster that Rian Johnson has left him with. I still can't believe how mishandled at literally everything this "sequel" trilogy has been.

I’m less concerned that JJ’s gonna retcon anything Rian did (for one, I’m really glad that Rose didn’t get shouted out by the online toxicity), but I still have this nagging worry that because of the divisive TLJ response, that they may punish their ambition.
Say what you will about that movie (at least without showing your true colors by dropping an unwarranted slam against “SJW’s”), at least it tried to do something DRASTICALLY different with Star Wars. We need more of that.
That said, I’m still really excited, and JJ’s last go is my favorite non-Empire Wars, so I’m holding on to hope that he’ll do it justice.

Much as I like J.J., I just find it baffling that anyone thought he had some long term trilogy planned out especially based on his filmography. I really do hope he doesn’t retcon certain things. On the plus side I love the look of the film and there seems to be a decent amount of variety in the planets.

This has nothing to do with Episode IX per se, but in the upcoming spirit of Christmas, I present Siskel & Ebert vs. Ebenezer Scrooge.

I don't *entirely* disagree with Simon in general (it's best to have meat on dem bones), but saying that SW and ESB have no depth to them is laughable. But I guess if Han Solo was an alcoholic played by Robert Duvall who grapples with his spirituality, the movies would be more palatable to him.

Darth Vader just needed to be a neglectful father who learns to appreciate his kids more, in order for Simon to consider the films a perfect 10.

After reading the supposed leaks for this, my expectations have lowered quite a bit, but I love Grant's genuine excitement.

This is old, but brilliant anyway. Keep that SW hype going.

I have no intention of spoiling myself or the movie, but... I want to listen to *one.* Not sure what to pick.

Go for Track 3. Really lovely rendition of a new theme, plus a couple familiar tunes. Early enough that you can save the more climactic highlights for the film.

Oh boy. I'm not going to reveal the spoilers that are at Reddit Leaks and all over the Internet by now, but holy crap, I take back anything I ever said about trusting that Disney Lucasfilm actually had a plan for the Sequel Trilogy. At least Rian Johnson had the last laugh after all.
