I've heard plenty of Creep covers in my lifetime, but this one knocked my socks off! That singer Haley Steinhart is fucking phenomenal! I love a raspy, husky croon (a la Dusty Springfield or Amy Winehouse) and she's got that going on with a little Aguilera skills. What a combination for a vocalist to have.

She has a lovely voice but it's not really working for me. This song needs a deeper voice.I definitely prefer the original.

It might be the best cover I've heard though. Deeper voice? Thom Yorke doesn't have a deep voice (and it's beautiful). lol. Her voice is much deeper than his, so I don't get that statement.

I don't know . I've always felt that his voice had such a broad range . I'd say he's a low tenor . Now I realize his voice is definitely not "Barry White deep" but I don't know , it's just the way that he sings that particular song , I guess . It's very haunting .His voice exudes so much desperation and gloominess.

As a big Radiohead fan, this is a pretty worthy cover. But the best cover of this song has to go to the Scala & Kolacny Brothers (it was used in the trailers for The Social Network if that rings a bell). That version perfectly captured the haunting and isolated nature of the song while setting it apart from the original. This one was nice, but that was mostly due to Reinhart's ( ) voice. I remember really liking her a lot back when I followed American Idol years ago. As you said, she had that great, raspy croon ala Winehouse that really struck a cord with me. I think the jazzy influence in this version doesn't quite feel reminiscent of what the lyrics and song are all about, but her voice brings home the pain and desperation. As Maria also mentioned, Thom Yorke (who is one of my favorite vocalists; he's not pure, but he's moving and has great range when he wants to - look no further than "Nude" for definitive proof) was able to capture the essence of the song more perfectly. I understand calling his voice "deep," but I think what she meant to say was because it sounds more muffled, intimate, personal, lonely. Regardless, thanks for sharing. I always appreciate a good cover, especially by talented musicians.

But I wasn't trying to compare this version to the original anyway. Postmodern Jukebox is meant to rework modern songs into vintage jazz. I like it and personally I don't like hearing covers that are too close to the original version. I like when a great song can be reworked in a way that is fresh and gets something different out of it that wouldn't be there in the original version (see the way she delivers the "she runs..." part). But I agree Haley's voice is the star. She's amazing. See also their Seven Nation Army cover with her.

I frequently see those Postmdern Jukebox videos on my YouTube feed and figured it was something like that, just never had the chance to listen to one. I agree, I love when artists don't just do a rehash of something. That makes you a cover band, cashing in on somebody else's success (even if you might play the song really well). Good covers infuse their own styles and interpretations of the song to showcase their talent as well as pay tribute to the song. I can certainly agree that's what was on display here, even if my personal interpretation would differ. But of course, such is art, and that's why I love hearing styles of all shapes and sizes. So, much appreciated.

What about this one : Definitely doesn't need a deeper voice after all but I believe that's because the guitar makes up for the lack of that deep sound
