There are some years where I nominate four out of 5 of the nominees in lead (1943, 1955, and for 1950 that's just because I haven't seen a whole lot), but my favorite lead actress lineup of all time by far is...
1982 Meryl Streep - Sophie's Choice Julie Andrews - Victor Victoria Jessica Lange - Frances Sissy Spacek - Missing Debra Winger - An Officer and a Gentleman
5, maybe 6 GOAT tier performances in the year in total.... by far my favorite year of lead actress of all time in general. I would've substituted Winger and Spacek for Bergman and Dennis. Even though Winger makes my top 10. And not sure whether or not I'd put Karen Black in place of Andrews, but it's certainly close enough that one is for sure #5 and the other #6.
For Supporting Actress, it's....
1969 Goldie Hawn - Cactus Flower Catherine Burns - Last Summer Dyan Cannon - Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice Sylvia Miles - Midnight Cowboy Susannah York - They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
York is FOAT, Hawn isn't her best performance or even the best in the film but still divine work from an unique actress. Cannon is deserving of a nomination. Burns might be a bit overrated but I still nominate her. But I would put Diana Rigg for On Her Majesty's Secret Service above her, and that's 4 out of 5 that I nominate.
