Laura Dern was nominated but declined because of her busy schedule. Bailey shot movies such as "Ordinary People", "The Big Chill" and "As Good as It Gets".

Probably for the best. Dern would've been an amazing president but wouldn't have been able to work as frequently, and that's just not acceptable.

Besides, it's a requisite for AMPAS prezzes that they be able to butcher nominees' names, and Dern wouldn't be able to do that.
