In other news, the American Bald Eagle was not endangered afterall after several hundred were found camped up in Bob Dylan's matted mane.

In this particular era, and in particular on Highway 61 Revisited (his titanic masterpiece of several masterpieces imo) he was something of the perfect artist or at least perfect Rock star - smart, wildly funny, literate, perceptive, arrogant, shy, poetic, sexy, but entirely himself, mixing low and high culture at the drop of a hat......there is almost no way to process what he must have appeared like to cultural observers at the time.
Even now, processing him as a figure - not just a musician but as a cult of personality, he's endlessly fascinating (after his motorcycle accident of course he's still fascinating but before it, he just had everything at once).

@hi224 - is that the one where he talks about "Everlong"?
There used to be a funny story that music critic Bill Holdship used to tell about Dylan telling the Ramones excitedly how much he liked them and they thought he was kidding, lol

I can see Dylan liking them! Although who knows for certain because he's such a mystery.
