A Room with a View (*sigh* - that movie) is probably my favorite, but I count Maurice, Howards End, and The Remains of the Day all as masterpieces.

Personally, I love Quartet and how politely toxic it is, the three leads are amazing and their downfall is like a punch in the stomach. However The Remains of the Day is probably even better, everyone feels like they're at the top of their games.

As much as I love remains of the day, Howards Ends hypnotized me more. There's something magical in it that makes me want to see it again and again. It think there is something enchanting about Vanessa Redgrave and her almost supernatural love of her pretty house.

Oh honey, The Proprietor with Jeanne Moreau and Sean Young is a guilty pleasure of mine because it is just so awful! It is like four movies rolled into one but carried by Moreau's legendary standing and charisma. I think there's even a musical number in it... Of the good ones: Howard's End; Remains of the Day and Where Angels Fear to Tread (Judy Davis as the uptight hysterical English woman is tremendous!!!). Le Divorce with Naomi and Kate is also quite interesting. Like The Proprietor it has a snobbish anti-American undercurrent which implies that American women are crass and could never be as refine and elegant as their French sisters...

Where Angels Fear to Tread (Judy Davis as the uptight hysterical English woman is tremendous!!!). This isn't Merchant/Ivory! But quite a convincing facsimile, yes.

Easily The Remains of the Day. What a beautiful, melancholic and elegant movie that is.

Quite easily Howards End. I had the great pleasure last weekend of seeing the restored version on the big screen and I loved every minute of it. It's possibly the greatest ever adaptation of a book.

Never made a bad film. I'll throw a vote to Mr. And Mrs. Bridge

I think STARZ is airing it in the US, but no dates yet. Kenneth Lonergan adapting it is certainly interesting. Actually, I think the movie, while quite good, feels sort-of abridged. Or rather..... like it'd work better in a longer form, like miniseries. Note - I haven't read the novel.
