Solid video in regards to the negative reactions to the show, a lot of which come from people who haven’t given it a chance.

Well I know I was down on the first episode and rightly so, but everything since then has ranged from really good to great. Agent Blake is probably my favourite TV character of the year. She's such a archetypal character, but Jean Smart has managed to make her very fresh and interesting. I'm even choosing to forgive her pulling of a "one more thing" as the person you were talking to is halfway out the door. That is one of my ultimate pet peeves in tv / film and I like the character enough to let it go.
I have to say though, as much as I love Regina King, she should have her Oscar taken away for that sarcastic "Is that supposed to scare me" noise she made in episode three.

Interesting. For me, King's reaction/noise was the highlight of the scene. It was so utterly childish and completey punctured Smart's "I'm a badass dogged investigator on your tail" spiel. Angela just dismissed Laurie like she was one of her kids. I thought it was hilarious

I thought it was hilarious Oh, the concept of childish the noise is all good, it was the actual noise noise she made that didn't work for me. Compare it to Emma Stone's snort of derision in The Favourite and it's leagues behind. I know I'm being persnickety, but I just remember laughing for all the wrong reasons, and it has really stuck in my mind.

Watched the first two episodes and while I'm finding it to be exceptionally well made, I'm just not feeling it at all.

This most recent episode deserves to win any and all directing and cinematography accolades possible. DAMN, STEPHEN WILLIAMS.

This show is really coming into it's own. It's been solid from the start, but the Looking Glass and Hooded Justice origin episodes have really taken things up a notch, and it's beginning to justify it's existance. As salty as Alan Moore is about others profiting from his creations, I'd like to think that if he sat down and gave it a chance, he'd appreciate this show honoring and adding to the rich tapestry he created.

I have to say, this show is getting better with each passing episode. One thing that annoys be about it, and annoyed me about The Leftovers too, is the gulf in time they are leaving between catching up with certain characters, or moving along certain plot threads. It's a small(ish) thing overall, and leaving it to one side; the show is frickin' great. Also, I assume I'm not the only one, so did anyone else know what Jermemy Irons closing argument was going to be, about five seconds before he made it? Call me childish, but I will never stop finding that sort of thing funny.

Didn't think it would be possible to make the whole "6 years from now" etc. work on screen, but boy did that fucking rock.

I'm finally catch up before the finale... So, the things I loved about the show have still been great throughout: the concepts, the scope, the score. But on the flip side, I spent way too much time struggling to get invested in this, and while it does "come together" quite a bit, it's still a giant mess (but then again, that sounds awfully familiar for Lindelof, doesn't it?). I really just couldn't muster any interest in the characters, and even still, I'm not sure that I can. I know the hook for a lot of people was the introduction of Jean Smart's Laurie Blake in ep. 3, but I can't say that was the case for me. Don't get me wrong, Jean Smart is great as she always is, she's super watchable here, but I'm not at all a fan of writing Laurie's character as a sarcastic trope. It's a huge 180 from the character from the source material, and the fact that it's so hard for me to believe that it's the same character really takes me out of it. And that's a shame because, for the most part, the stuff dealing with the old guard has really been the show's strength. The Looking Glass episode was very good until the Seventh Cavalry showed up and made me bored again ... then "This Extraordinary Being" was fuuuucking excellent, if a bit oversold by the fanbase. But it really is a tremendous achievement, and the way it plays with the mythos of the graphic novel was glorious to watch. The most accomplished, most confident the show has been yet, and also the most entertaining hour it's had, too. Loved it. And then there was the most recent episode ... so, chapter 4 of Watchmen, "Watchmaker," is on its own one of my absolute favorite literary works ever, and it's long been a dream of mine to see that chapter realized as its own television episode ... and what I'd heard about this episode beforehand suggested that that's what it was, aaaaaand ... it really wasn't. It's not nearly as Dr. Manhattan with the way it treats time and actually takes on a fairly conventional structure by framing it entirely around the one scene ... but now I'm just nitpicking because the episode wasn't what I expected it to be, so let me put that in check and say that this episode still fucking ruled! As I said, the old guard stuff has been the best, and while this is really just the most expensive piece of fan-fic made since, uhhhhh, Game of Thrones seasons 6-8, I don't give a shit because when it's good it's real good. Lindelof is no Alan Moore, that's for certain, but I really enjoy the way that he plays true to the element of comic book absurdity that Moore preserves in the source material, and it shows a much stronger understanding and appreciation of what that novel is than Snyder's dumbly self-serious and overly-grim take did. And I do have to add: I had already read the spoiler that Cal was Dr. Manhattan before catching up, but I'm honestly glad that I did, because it made the character and the little bits of foreshadowing way more entertaining for me. But, yeah ... ep. 8 was marvelous, and by the time we got to "the moment," I was definitely tearing up. For the finale ... I'm all-in. Give it to me now. Also: I still have no idea what the FUCK the Ozymandias storyline is, and while I'm still just not at all sure how to even feel about it, the trial scene in ep. 7 was fucking excellent.

I have a theory (I don’t read spoilers and stay away from reddit boards so don’t know if this is obvious or not). His story line has been happening in the past from present day. It was him that crash landed on the farm that Lady Trieu bought from that couple in exchange for the baby and he is currently in the statue on her compound.

New season or not (I think it ended perfectly for the most part), this has the merits of being an all time great show.
Pleased to say that the finale stuck the ending.
