There are a fuckton of terrible sitcoms, but for every like five bad ones there's one great. My favourites are:
Seinfeld - king of them all in my opinion. How it managed to find humour in almost any everyday situation continues to impress me every time I watch it.
The Simpsons - obviously it's not good anymore, but its best days were truly something to behold.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - I respect this show's batshit-insane core more than anything. I'm not sure I've ever seen an episode that didn't have me in borderline hysterics at least once.
Friends - as I get older the more I realise this show wasn't actually all that good in terms of writing and whatnot, but there are few shows that are as purely enjoyable to just put on whenever. It's perfect comfort food - until it became unbearable in the last two seasons.
30 Rock - I never got beyond S3 (hopefully I'll get round to finishing it soon), but the writing was always sharp and the cast was generally excellent. I despise Tracy Morgan, but still it's a good show.
Peep Show - ah, Brit humour at its finest.
Others like Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother alternate between quite enjoyable and utterly awful, particularly the latter. Community had a fantastic first 3 seasons and then went off the rails. Cheers and Arrested Development seem good, from the little I've seen.

I'm weird because most TV I watch is to laugh but I judge them harshly, like I love Cheers when Diane is in it, and kind of loathe it after she left. Love The US Office with Carell not so much without though I still watched.
I'll say:
Fawlty Towers - If that counts, I love it to death and Basil Fawlty is my favorite character Louie - At its best, beyond brilliant 30 Rock - the flat out most consistently funny show, got funnier when they stopped caring weirdly, loopy The Office UK Frasier - When it was cooking it was like an ace stage play Arrested Development/Community/Parks and Rec/The Office US - All had peak runs for a while that almost caused me to die laughing

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - For me, this show is a perfect synthesis of humor and genuinely heartfelt elements of drama without falling into bathos. And they're not cheap "very special episodes" either, everything the show addresses from class, race (including internalized racism), sex, political ideology, body image, familial shame, violent crime, substance use, and perhaps most famously parental neglect are all tied directly to fundamental, readily present aspects of the characters that change over time.
The Simpson - Almost everything I said for Fresh Prince would apply to this show at its peak. The pure creativity on display during that golden age is truly astonishing.
Seinfeld - Has a very strong case for being the absolute funniest show ever.
The Larry Sanders Show - I don't think it's quite appreciated just how much Garry Shandling informed today's comedic sensibilities. Name any funny guy in the past 20 years, they owe something to Shandling.
Futurama - Just as The Simpsons was starting to decline, Futurama came in and took up the mantle.
I Love Lucy - Classic.
Three's Company - Anybody with a passing interest in physical comedy owes it to themselves to watch John Ritter.
That '70s Show - A fun send-up to the 1970s that works in large part due to its cast that gel together really well.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Arrested Development Parks and Rec. South Park Silicon Valley Freaks and Geeks The Office (US), in its peak Friends
Still have a lot to see in this department (I have actually only ever watched a handful of Seinfeld episodes.)
Shout-outs to some great comedies that don't quite fit the bill of "sitcom": BoJack Horseman, Atlanta, Master of None.

I've been randomly catching a ton of re-runs of this over the summer and forgot how damn funny it was after it had been a favorite of mine when I was younger. It's yet another series that declines as it progresses towards its end (though not as disastrously as others), but it's absolutely hilarious at its best and I've only come to appreciate its humor more with age.

'The Golden Girls,' no question. Consistently laugh-out-loud funny and beautifully acted.

Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Friends and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Those are really far ahead of the rest for me. Then we have stuff like Extras, Fawlty Towers, Spin City and Silicon Valley which I've also greatly enjoyed.

Father Ted and It's Always Sunny are out in front of the pack for me, but I do love the hell out of a couple of dozen more. Very much like with film, comedy is my favourite thing about TV.
