Finally edited my all-time acting line-ups for the first time since probably 2011. So many changes, even my #1 in Actress changed, so I'm super excited.
I'm sure it's way too late for any FYCs, but I just want to give a shout-out to those 1920s/ early 1930s performances that I don't think have ever (or at the most rarely) made any of these lists:
Lillian Gish - Way Down East // Orphans of the Storm. Emil Jannings - The Last Command. Janet Gaynor - 7th Heaven // Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans. Lionel Barrymore - Grand Hotel. Lars Hanson - Flesh and the Devil. Evelyn Brent - The Last Command. Jobyna Ralston - The Freshman.
Also some underrated ones I'm hoping pop up (by category):
Lead Actor: Harvey Keitel - Bad Lieutenant. Robert De Niro - The King of Comedy. Gene Wilder - Young Frankenstein. Martin Sheen - Apocalypse Now. Timothy Bottoms - The Last Picture Show. Ryan Gosling - Lars and the Real Girl. John Candy - Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
Lead Actress: Sheryl Lee - Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Mia Farrow - Rosemary's Baby. Catherine Deneuve - The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Helen Mirren - The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover. Joan Allen - The Ice Storm.
Supporting Actor: Robin Williams - Good Will Hunting. Barry Pepper - 25th Hour. Matthew McConaughey - Killer Joe. Ben Johnson // Jeff Bridges - The Last Picture Show. Michael Gambon - The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover. Tim Curry - Clue. Charles Bronson - Once Upon a Time in the West. Matt Dillon - The Outsiders.
Supporting Actress: Melora Walters - Magnolia. Kristen Stewart - Adventureland. Madeline Kahn - Clue. Joan Allen - The Crucible. Eileen Brennan - The Last Picture Show. Ally Sheedy - The Breakfast Club. Isla Fisher - Definitely, Maybe. Katharine Ross - The Graduate.

idioticbunny : Isla Fisher - Definitely, Maybe. Beautiful, guy, beautiful. The heart and soul of this movie. I felt like she had a fragile nature that was easy to sympathize with - the fact that she came back for him from overseas just to find out he was in another relationship. I think the others are fairly perfunctory; Isla shows up and the sweetness just gets turned up several notches. I don't have any reservations about declaring her my supporting actress win of 2008 - not that there were many great choices anyways.

I had seen the movie during a critical year for me both personally and cinematically. The movie itself should be just another silly chick-flick, but the script, Reynolds, and most importantly Fisher kept it from being standard. Easily one of the sweetest, most lovable characters in film. For the longest time I was like "she was just a chick-flick counterpart, ain't nothing special there," but even nearly a decade later I'm thinking about her performance, nearly bringing tears to my eyes and making my heart flutter, and that alone is why she makes my top 25 in the category. Incredible work.

I went with Molly Ringwald instead of Sheedy, and Sheen... may have made my ballot, but I don't think so. Just... please, no Keitel. I pray of you. I suppose the performance is actually pretty good, I just despise the movie with every ounce of my being. Me, I'm hoping for one performance above all others, and that is Tatsuya Nakadai in Harakiri. I'm good with anything so long as he can sneak in.

I think The Breakfast Club ensemble is underrated as a whole, but Sheedy just gave so much depth to a character that most would have just played for the laughs or weird moments. I hope Sheen made your ballot! Everyone talks about Duvall, Hopper, or Brando, but half of the reason the film works so well (and is in my top 25 favorite films) is because of how well Sheen anchors the whole odyssey. You really feel the war-worn spirit through every fiber of his being. Surprised he doesn't get talked about in the same vein as other strong '70s lead performances. Ahh, see the film itself was okay for me. Abel Ferrara is certainly a divisive director, mostly on purpose, so the film itself has highs and lows for me. But Keitel blew me away through every single frame. I've yet to see another actor get so involved and so loose in their role, and that includes the method ones. My all-time favorite performance in any category. I've actually yet to see Harakiri, but I'm certainly going to.
