Looovvee her. I haven't seen enough of her but from whatever little I've seen, she's beyond incredible in those. Particularly love her in her Oscar winning role, The Beguiled and Sweet Bird of Youth, three roles which couldn't be any more different and she aces them so beautifully. I really wanted to watch most of her movies but then Twin Peaks happened and I'm rewatching it from the start so..But I'm definitely gonna watch Interiors soon.

I should become more familiar. I've seen her in some things. The last time I saw a movie with her in it was The Pope of Greenwich Village. She stood out to me there, but I feel I should be exposed to more to see what justifies this "best actress in the English language" talk.

Not only was she great, she's one of the few who could play big and small, nuanced....... and often do it within the same role - usually actors are far more boring and monochromatic. She pops up a lot in the greatest actress across stage/TV/film thread because she was well .......an actor's actor.

Totally meant to post here after my Geraldine streak last month. My fav perfs and quick thoughts. The Trip to Bountiful Sweet Bird of Youth Toys in the Attic What Ever Happened to Aunt Alice? A Christmas Memory Summer and Smoke Interiors The Beguiled The Pope of Greenwich Village I’m Dancing As Fast As I Can Nasty Habits Pete n Tillie You’re a Big Boy Now Hondo I think there's an argument that she's in the Top 10 GOAT. No actress ever has explored insecurity as deeply, sweetly, and horrifyingly. She's pretty much covered every facet of behavior - active, romantic, curious, childlike, malicious, outrageous, pained, vain, tender, elegant, etc, etc. She can ace dark drama, or comedy - where she has a surprising knack, actually - and major side note: Catherine O'Hara's Moira was a Page parody all along?? She has an ability to always feel immediate in her perfs - you can sense a real feeling around the words, in the silences, kinda like Streep - pacinoyes has made the comparisons before I think? And the way she loads between opposing qualities - she knows how to make a character dynamic. Not a conventional star beauty, though never impeded by that, I don't think...... She's one-of-a-kind, insanely talented, and often I find enormously moving.

One of my favorites - an exceptional actress who had many acting tools in her box and used them to splendid perfection. Top 3: Whatever Happened To Aunt Alice: such a wickely funny and theatrical performance - and well matched by the fiery Ruth Gordon. Interiors - I LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE! That tightly wound bun on her head says it all about that character - "could you not breathe so loud" and "the outside noises are so unnerving." The church scene with EG Marshall is fantastic - "I cant breathe" - Drama Queen! Trip to Bountiful - Decades of brilliant stage and screen work that culminates in a "Give her the damn Oscar already!!" I love Carrie Watts and wish she were my grandmother. There will NEVER be another. Also, a shout out to her Mrs. Ritter - "two college educated little pricks" - in less than 4 minutes, a masterclass.
