She is a perennial 4th/5th place finisher at individual events at world level, so to see her get her gold like this here is fucking incredible. Her reaction was amazing. So sad for Andrade though. I think they were pretty harsh on her. Biles throwing her tantrum and getting her excuses in early was hilarious. She's still getting that gold on the floor, but it's always nice to see people with a total lack of humility fall on their ass every once in a while. |

I hate it. Anyway, another Olympic highlight for me, in the mens horizontal bar, a Chinese guy and a Taiwanese guy having to share the same spot on the podium as they tie for bronze.  |

His first miss of the final comes after he's won gold, after he's set the Olympic record, and only as he goes for the world one, and then to do it at the third time like that. What a show. Elsewhere, tomorrow night, Mijain Lopez Nunez will look to become the first person in the history of the modern Olympic Games to win the same individual event 5 times when he goes for gold in the super heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestling. He basically retired after Tokyo, only started full prep for this last hurrah in January, is unseeded, and has already knocked off the World Champion. |

The womens javelin is low-key the best event of the whole Olympics. A lot of my faves have gone out in qualification, but Maria Andrejczyk has already thrown her season best, made the final, and has a shot to one-up her silver from Tokyo. Be there or be less entertained.  |
