A'ja Wilson being less marketable than Caitlin Clark has nothing to do with her game. Angel Reese is the most marketable player in the WNBA, yet her haters can write you a thesis about how her game is supposedly "boring", lacking in offense, no logo threes, and only about rebounding blahblahblah. Yet she has the most major endorsements and brand appeal of anyone in the league.
People are following the Rookies this season in a way they won't for already established players. The Clark/Reese rivalry in College is what allowed both of them to move the needle in terms of attention when they went Pro. Someone like Cameron Brink, had she stayed healthy this season would be benefiting from that. No one who was already in the league is going to have the kind of reach or impact as Clark or Reese, because they marked the point where people who didn't give a shit about Women's basketball started following the sport, so people have more investment in them, whether it's positive or negative. It ain't rocket science. Sabrina Ionescu or Napheesa Collier won't ever be as marketable as Clark or Reese either, and it has nothing to do with their games.

Aja Wlson is a great player and deserves the MVP but Sabrina Ionescu (#4 MVP) or Napheesa Collier (#2 0r #3 MVP) and Caitlin Clark (#2 or #3 MVP) are way more fun.......Wilson is a ptituary case........it's just boring...............

Incredible game from Angel Reese, as she scores 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Chicago Sky to a vital win over the Los Angeles Sparks. Reese's shooting efficiency rose dramatically and she shot a 60% FG average. Reese even managed to score a 3 pointer.
With the return of Chennedy Carter from illness, Reese finally has a Guard again that can find and feed her in the paint. It's clear that Chicago's core needs to be Reese, Carter and Cardoso. Everyone else can go (aside from a few bench players).

Absolutely devastating news for Angel Reese, as her season comes to an end due a wrist injury. The inevitable double-double season rebounding record will not be broken by her this year. And even her most rebounds in a season record will almost certainly be broken by A'ja Wilson now, who is only 40 rebounds behind her.
Still a phenomenal rookie season. Reese is and should be proud of her efforts.

Perhaps this will give Angel Reese more motivation for next season. Those record that should have been here and now won't be, will probably claimed by her when she completes a full season. Excellent statement by the Chi-Town Barbie.

I'm very saddened by the news of Angel Reese's injury - she had a great year on the boards - and in almost any other year that would deserve RotY ..........but this was a special year .....anyway: speaking of injuries and the future of the WNBA - there is a very real chance that the LA Sparks get Paige Bueckers to join Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson in the draft lottery. Paige Bueckers is yet another Point Guard - in a league that is getting smaller - and better as it gets smaller - with Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu (a 2 guard who can play point a bit) - I don't think she's ever been as dynamic or impactful as Clark / Ionescu are.......but she's more traditionally efficient and plays more defense than Clark....... and if she stays healthy could rival Clark for best PG in the WNBA for many years.......... in a big TV market

Don’t think I’ll be able to handle Paige Bueckers and Cameron Brink on the same team

Reese is and should be proud of her efforts. Fuck, that really sucks. She was definitely going to finish the season as the leader in total rebounds and break the double-double season record. I think her rebounds per game will remain the leader though at 13.1, don't think Aja will catch that. Overall she had a great, historical rookie season and definitely proved her doubters wrong that she would be able to play in this league. As I've said before this is her floor, and that's a scary thought. I'm very interested to see how she improves over the off-season and what she'll look like in the Unrivaled league. If her offensive skillset improves gradually she's going to be a perennial MVP candidate. I think if Chicago was contending for the championship this year she would've played through the injury, but since this is a rebuilding year and Chicago really isn't going to make alot of noise in the playoffs, Chicago decided to shutdown their franchise cornerstone for the rest of the season. Probably for the best so she can rest now.

Ngl - Clark's faux RotY rival (Reese) and the leader for MVP (Aja Wilson) both being hurt is fairly amusing to me........ Wilson is a great player but boring af and Reese is a great rebounder but there hasn't been a RoY debate since like game 15 ......you don't like to see anybody get hurt .......but out of those 3.........I'm glad it's not Caitlin Clark

Feel ridiculous? Not really. The fact that neither Kelsey Mitchell nor Aliyah Boston ( who had a phenomenal career high 30 point, 13 Rebound, 5 assist game in their last game) are not getting Player Of The Week accolades during this recent Indiana Fever stretch shows the clear agenda of the league to promote Clark above all others. She's a great player and doing exceptional things, but even when her All-Star teammates clearly outperform her, she gets all the accolades. I'd be disgusted if I was them. The WNBA league commissioner Cathy Englbert ( who seriously needs to go) who more than likely has a huge say in deciding who gets Player Of The Week/Month, is currently trending (and being roasted) on Twitter because she's a stupid Karen who thinks it's okay for Angel Reese to put up with racism from Clark's fanbase, as long as it brings more eyes to the league and makes more money for them. You want to know why Clark keeps winning Player Of The Week over better performing members of her team? It's because of Sugar Mommy Englbert. So yeah, good for Clark and her manufactured accolades. We'll see how long these black women like Mitchell and Boston are willing to play Mammy to a girl that they know will always get more credit even when they perform better than her. Having said all that, Clark deserves to win Rookie Of The Year.

As well as being a racist prick, you're not very attentive either. I've said Clark would deserve to win Rookie Of The Year for a few months now. Just because I said Angel Reese also had a case (and it would still be an incredibly strong case if she finished the season and broke all the records she was supposed to) didn't mean I discounted Clark's very deserving claim. That's your insecurity, buddy . Reese not being able to play the last 6 games and get all those extra records gives the edge to Clark. Otherwise, I'd still consider it a toss-up.

At the same time, because of the wild coincidence of Angel Reese & A'ja Wilson being injured at the exact same time, Reese may somehow still hold onto the most important record she's broken ( the single season WNBA season rebounding record), as Wilson is the only one within range of breaking it. If Wilson misses the next 2 or 3 games, Reese probably keeps the record and still has a case for ROTY, though most would give Clark the edge. But Reese needs to keep that record by the end of the season for me to even consider her still competitive with Clark. Clark is going to win ROTY regardless at this point, but it would be incredible for Reese if she still managed to keep that record.

"If Wilson misses the next 2 or 3 games, Reese probably keeps the record and still has a case for ROTY," how the fnck are most rebounds in a season all time - which generates 0 points by themselves - more impressive than most assists in a season all time - which ARE POINTS and Clark will also be the all time Rookie scoring points leader on top of that anyway
