RIP The Joy Luck Club, Household Saints, Matinee, Shadowlands, Heaven and Earth, A Perfect World, Manhattan Murder Mystery, M. Butterfly, The Secret Garden, Geronimo: An American Legend, Much Ado About Nothing, and Falling Down.
Grateful though that Fearless had some love.

Best supporting actor Ralph Fiennes, Schindler's List Tommy Lee Jones, The Fugitive Richard Jordan, Gettysburg Val Kilmer, Tombstone Ben Kingsley, Schindler's List Jack Lemmon, Short Cuts Pete Postlethwaite, In the Name of the Father OMG, just realized that in addition to Penn, friggin MALKOVICH got robbed in this category too!! One of the rarest of instances where AMPAS got it right that year and AMARA didn't (as is Altman in Director, insanely enough). |

My only complaints: Short Cuts underperformed in the acting categories, especially in Supporting Actress, where it deserved three slots. Happy that Lemmon made it, though. And Groundhog Day should have been nominated for Best Picture, I don't care how good you think the year is. Outside of the above, this is the most satisfied I've been with these awards in a long, long time  Congratulations to us, and thanks for doing this, Martin! |

BEST PICTURE OF 1993 Jurassic Park Naked The Piano The Remains of the Day Schindler's List Short Cuts Three Colors: Blue Phew, well at least SHORT CUTS got into Picture! Happy about that, though it getting BP but Altman not getting into BD makes less sense than if it had been snubbed in both categories. Still, happy it's here. Love all but 2 of these films. PIANO and REMAINS OF THE DAY are, imo, good films with fantastic leading performances. They're not BP caliber. SHORT CUTS and 1 of TRUE ROMANCE, AGE OF INNOCENCE, or MENACE II SOCIETY should have gotten those 2 slots. |

I'm actually quite surprised by Leo's "snub" when her co-star got in. I'd think he's a no-brainer for this year despite the rich field of the category. I'd voted for Tommy Lee (great, insanely watchable performance) but watching The Fugitive for the very first time just a few weeks ago, my feeling was that he's just as lead as Ford, and lead actor was an even more competitive category.
Echoing the Short Cuts feelings, too little nominations overall but with Supporting Actress it might have been a case of vote spliting. Stowe got my vote.
The Picture lineup is beautiful, very happy for Kieslowski's Blue getting so many mentions. Same for every nod Remains of the Day got (my two favourite movies of the year).
I'd try and make room to watch all 4 hours of Gettysburg
Arizona Dream deserved at least original song and Lili Taylor.
