The referee asked Martina Trevisan not to shout when she hits the ball. Do they ask males the same?

Poor Martina my ass . We've just confirmed the youngest WTA Grand Slam finalist since Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2004 in the amazing Coco Gauff. That's the fucking story we should be talking about, not some now inconsequential mid-match complaint with an unseeded qualifier we'll probably never hear from again. Gauff making the final is the story here.
With the likes of Gauff starting to fulfil her potential and dominant badasses like Iga Swiatek around, this feels like potentially a new Golden Age for WTA players could be starting.

You are despicable. Martina stayed away from tennis for many years because of health issues. She won her battle, as I said before.

I'm not aware of Martina's history as a player or any of her health issues. I wish her well Having said that, I still think the major takeaway from that match is that a precocious teenage wunderkind in Coco Gauff has made the final and delivering on the promise people have expected from her since she was 15 years old.

From the men's side so far I think the tournament has been, strangely, high level. Most matches I've watched were of good, even great, quality, with the best being the quarterfinal between Zverev and Alcaraz. And I find this surprising due to the fact that the French Open is, traditionally, the slam that produces the most mugfests (mainly due to the surface, as clay is definitely the most difficult surface to play quality tennis on). But the quality this year is high. Though, I can't say the same for the women, as most matches I've seen from them have been very poor (the two semifinals included).

Womens tournament was definitely kind of a clusterfuck, but we've sort of ended up with the dream final out of it! The indisputable number 1 versus the indisputable hottest prospect in the game, and an American, which helps for hype

It must be maddening being a big Zverev fan - dazzling high points mixed with double faults, flying rackets, stupid (and cocky) shot choices.......he's entertaining though......

Not a fan of Zverev, but you don't want to see that kind of injury for anyone . I do think Nadal forcing him to play to his limits and go after every shot didn't help though. Rough stuff. Hard to see Cillic or Ruud beating Nadal in the final, but miracles do occasionally happen. Incredible to think Nadal is on the cusp of winning 22 Grand Slams and his 14th French Open. Nobody could even envision Nadal taking a 2 slam lead over Djokovic, when everyone was prematurely declaring him the GOAT (and claiming Nadal was done) after Wimbledon last year. Great sportsmanship from Nadal to check on Zverev and console him at the end

As we await Hair Club For Mendal vs. Ruud - and I'm using the term "vs." loosely there with all due respect to Ruud which on paper (#5 Nadal vs. #8 Ruud) is a tighter match than the females but I doubt it maybe..... .......we also await to see if Nadal will announce he will grace us with his presence at Wimbledon - which he has only won twice anyway and not since 2010 - 2010 yeah, ok ....today we have Świątek vs. Gauff in the ladies final. Same story here as every match with Świątek - the only way to beat her is to make her move and to hit deep balls - easier said then done.....Gauff is a good match-up though and you never know ....Świątek hasn't been "perfect" but pretty close and is in effect making ladies tennis kinda dull - and ladies tennis has Paula Badosa for Godsake

Flavia Pennetta and Francesca Schiavone won the double (legends). 🇮🇹
Pennetta won the US open in 2015 and retired right after, and Schiavone won Roland Garros in 2010 and retired in 2018 due to a tumor.

Apparently Swiatek likes alternative rock, jazz, classic literature, and has a black cat. When can I start dating her?

Yeah, hopefully the tears are not too bad. Would be nice if he could make it back for Australia at least. Right now part of him is probably wishing they had suspended him for a couple of months after Acapulco.

The GOAT Nadal wins his 22nd Grand Slam and 14th French Open Title, defeating Caspar Ruud in straight sets.
Remarkable. All due respect to Federer and Djokovic, but Nadal is now the undisputed greatest male tennis player of all time.
As I said, the Nadal/Djokovic quarter-final was the defacto final. The result was never in doubt after that

I was checking if he could beat Guillermo Vilas ' record of matches won on clay (681)... but Nadal (474) has still a long way. Don't retire!
