My last watch of 2023 was Once Upon a Time in the West aka The Greatest Western of All Time. Not a bad way to close the year in film.
What about you?

In theaters, Poor Things.
I just finished a rewatch of 12 Angry Men so that might be it for 2023.

McCabe and Mrs. Miller. Perfect film to end the year. Absolutely magical experience.

Schizopolis (1996) - Really funny absurdist film. Definitely one of my favorites from Soderbergh.

just finished preparing a delicious crock pot meal for tomorrow so I'm treating myself to a Moonrise Kingdom rewatch because it's a perfect movie and I haven't seen it in a while

The Purple Rose of Cairo (first watch). Brilliant. One of Woody's best.

Triangle of Sadness. first time viewing for me but i seriously ended up watching it three times in a row bc i just couldnt part from it. imo, for me, in my weird little world, it's one of the true masterpieces of cinema - well, at this point as i'm still under the immediate influence of this almost overwhelming experience i've had watching it, so i still have to see if it stands the test of time. right now, i'm just so thankful and feeling blessed that i picked this movie to watch today, on the last day of this (on all accounts fucked up) year bc i had such a great time with it. a worthy and wonderful sendoff.
10/10

A re-watch of Terrence Malick's Days of Heaven (1978). Visually resplendent, but I didn't love it as much as I remembered, and that was thanks to Linda Manz's absolutely ruinous narration.
Also... I wish Cristina Raines had had the Brooke Adams part.
