I guess I'm the only person who didn't like the opening sequence. It's interesting in theory, but that whole Mission Impossible esque mask thing was thoroughly ridiculous and silly and doesn't really fit in a show like this.
Fairly meh episode overall for me. Didn't really care for much of any of it except for the last 5 minutes or so.

The only issue I have with the opening scene is that it's pretty much a beat-for-beat repeat of her scene in the S6 finale, just on a larger scale. But really, it was too satisfying for me to complain about.

Solid enough, albeit not that interesting of a start. At the same time, it was a tidy enough episode, with no shit scenes (except the literal ones) so I'm happy. The GoodThe Arya scenes, especially her second scene. I didn't find Ed Sheerans presence distracting, and I did know who he was. I do kinda want Arya to make it back to Winterfell though. The Hound & Brotherhood scenes. I was kinda indifferent to the return of The Hound, but I'm definitely happy to have him back now. He's even managed to make me give a damn about the Brotherhood. The first steps onto Westeros for the the tiny blonde mother of tedium. They could have made it all stupidly overblown and triumphant, like they do most things involving her, but for once they played it cool and it worked. The Jamie and Cersei scene was pretty good for me. I liked that he was being brutally frank with her on all fronts, even if she's too deluded at this point to care. Sansa and her dismissal of Littlefinger..."I'll just assume you said something clever". Jim Broadbent The BadI'm most likely alone on this, but I'm not interested in all this impending Jon / Sansa tension. Kit Harrington is involved so its a snoozefest as far as I'm concerned. Littlefinger...I'm bored of you, go away or die. Everybody loves a montage....except on Game of Thrones. The UglyBoran Greyjoy...like all things Greyjoy and male, I find it as tedious on screen as I do in literary form.

The concept had already been introduced, so it seems pointless to complain about it now. I've already accepted it as a silly part of this universe.

Was it great to see the Frey's collectively hemorrhage to death? Hell yes. But at the same time, it didn't come close to topping what she did at the end of S6.

There's no time for Stoneheart but there's time for montage of Sam literally dealing with shit. What could be epic RW revenge played in 2 scenes

It was featured at least a couple of times in the Braavos storyline. And Arya had to "pull off a mask" when she killed Walder Frey.

I have to admit that I don't really feel the same excitement for new episodes as I once did. The last two seasons have sapped me of all my favorite characters, with only Davos, Theon and The Hound remaining of primary focal points that I still care about. And this episode certainly emphasized the inevitable grind towards a Daenerys win (at least in the short-term). But there were some great moments. Even though the Frey scene was redundant, I thought it was nevertheless very well-staged. I just wish it had been the final scene of Season 6.

With the useless shit they spend time on - in this episode literally - they would have had plenty of time to do that arc. I think this may be the biggest missed opportunity when it comes to movies or TV shows I've ever seen.

I actually prefer Arya taking that role.

I actually prefer Arya taking that role. I see it the other way. The guest right, something sacred was violated. The gods literally intervened and brought her back as vengeance from beyond the grave. And it's so tragic - this good woman not finding peace but walking the Earth. And it's so impactful considering that she was the victim of RW who was treated most horribly - forced to watch her son die. It means so much more for her to do the killing than Arya in 2 scenes. It doesn't cheapen the tragedy - it adds to the tragedy. It's the extension of it. It's the answer to it. Add to that the show straight up trolling people waiting for her for years and I must say I truly, truly hate Benioff and Weiss Really Coldhands, freaking Benjen, Beric, Edmure, Blackfish, Bloodraven - everyone was back. But not the character who would actually make the plot more impactful (imho)

I'm just not as enthusiastic about this show as I once was, and a large part of it has been the dip in quality, especially in the last two seasons. I'd say that I have more characters that I'm still invested in (Davos and The Hound are long-time favorites of mine; Theon's one of the best, but has been unfortunately sidelined recently; Jon and Sansa are two characters I never cared much for at first, but are now two of my favorites and have one of the few storylines that still genuinely interests me). But aside from some of the stuff going down in the North, there's not a lot that's keeping me attached at this point.
