Visconti's Vaghe stelle dell'Orsa, or Sandra as it's known internationally, has refused to leave the corners of my cinematic mind since I saw it for the first time in March.
Visconti’s approach is both classical and modern, etching tableaux of disintegrated opulence in high-contrast black and white while incorporating handheld camerawork and idiosyncratically framed shots. Mostly, though, he fixes on Claudia Cardinale. When she shares the screen with the ostentatiously beautiful Jean Sorel, their chemistry is almost too potent to bear—which, considering they’re playing siblings, is precisely the point. The film is often dismissed as "second-tier" Visconti despite its Golden Lion win, which I think is a real shame. The elemental explosion that ensues from combining two of cinema's all-time great faces, intense desire, and familial decay is pure cinema.
Fun fact: Miuccia Prada counts this as her favorite film.
If you've seen the film, please do share your thoughts on it! Otherwise, looking forward to hearing your responses on the films that can't leave you in peace.

Logan. Saw it 4 times already and I cannot remember the last time I rewatched a movie so much in such short time. Every time I find something new in it. And I cannot wait to see Noir version on Friday

I saw Aguirre, the Wrath of God a couple of weeks ago, and it's still lingering in my mind.

Rewatched Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me earlier today, and that'll probably be on my mind for a good little while. Even more so than the Twin Peaks reboot.

I watched Funny Games (the original) tonight, and I have a feeling this one will stay under my skin for a couple of days. I think the last time a film stuck with me for so long was when I watched Paris, Texas over a month ago (though that was unshakable in a totally different way).
Also, this week I haven't been able to get the new Twin Peaks episodes and the latest Leftovers installment out of my head.

SING. I just adore it. It is just so full of verve and originality and most of the characters are quite satisfyingly developed. I just loved the wild energy of it and the wild inventiveness thoroughly represented in the Buster Moon's character. Talk about creating something from chaos!
I can watch it everyday and I don't think I'd get bored.

I don't seem to be able to shake my disappointment with La La Land, so that I guess.

Fire Walk With Me deserves so much more praise than it gets. I put it up there with Lynch's top masterpieces solely because of the emotional punch it packs. My only issue with it is Donna's recast, but honestly the rest of it is so incredible I can look past it.
