Voting for Killers even though I still believe it will ultimately suffer the early front runner curse and lose out to something that’s probably not in our radar right now.
Voting for it since it’s pretty much a lock to be at least top 5 and probably top 3.

Nothing's really changed since May. We know Killers is a big player that has the goods but it just feels like it's going to be the early frontrunner that gasses out and manages to win a couple of big prizes but whiffs it in the end to something else.
I voted for The Color Purple because I feel like that one kind of feels like it checks all the boxes and isn't fighting for oxygen in the room the way the other major films will be (strong auteur-driven epic tales, several of whom are by revered winless directors).

I have changed my mind!........I'm getting pizza for lunch.......um, wait what was my point? Oh, right.......I'm starting to lean Oppenheimer or Color Purple * KOTFM - has things in those reviews which count against it......and a lot of people are naming those things. Could easily be another Scorsese "10 nominations / 0 wins - I repect it though!" .........but nobody loves it.....the reviews are great but not that great to overcome what people won't like about it * Past Lives - it's a great-ish movie and people love it and I'd pay money to see it again....but it's so quiet and small I don't think so ......and A24 has Big Dick Artfuck Syndrome which shows how "Progressive" A24 will be when the fnck over the female director for the New Testosterone Kubrick.......who was also a male .....much like most of the Nazis were too - yanno? *Zone of Interest - has no chance .....but A24 will fnck up Past Lives campaign because of this - which I'm sure is great - but nah for BP......be real....... * Oppenheimer - gets the respect KOTFM gets ........and has the awe / wow factor - hmmmmmmm * Color Purple - Hard-hitting emotionalism on Systemic racism, white guilt, white guilt, and especially white guilt but with the added bonus of being a remake that no one wanted, that's preachy af, poorly acted in its trailer anyway, and with songs that blow - so much that no one remembers them even now - years after the musical ......ticks so many boxes on the intersectionality checklist that it may win more Oscars than it gets nominations - if that's even possible pacinoyes going crazy analyzing the Oscar field:

Also sticking with KotFM for now even though I don’t really believe it will go the distance.

I went with Bikeriders for the same reason. Killers is an obvious BP contender with directing, writing, acting (at least 3), editing, and so forth locked in. But as we have seen recently, the Academy goes something smaller, more independent.

I went with Killers, but I agree it's likely something else is more likely to win by the time the awards come

I'll say Killers for now.
I think Past Lives will sweep the critics awards though.

Nothing on list feels right. I kinda agree with this. I wonder if something a bit off the radar will surge.

I’m much less sold on The Color Purple (for now) than a lot of you. I’m not sure it even gets a BP nom.

FYI: The Bikeriders just had another test screening, and most reports are 'good, not great' level.

I'm going to keep voting for Cry Macho until you include it in the poll.

I'm going to keep voting for Cry Macho until you include it in the poll. I'm actually tempted to start a poll about whether or not to include Cry Macho in the July 2023 poll. I'm not even joking!!! If people want it in, I'd be the last person to stand in it's way!! So to everyone reading this: Should Cry Macho be in the poll?

HorizonCostner is back, bitches. (It seems as good a choice as any. Also, this is wishful thinking - Color Purple is the logical choice for all the reasons Pac elucidated on)

Just want to put something out there. If we are looking for something way under the radar right now we might want to keep an eye on The Nickel Boys. Based on a Pulitzer Prize winner and a very heavy subject matter. Produced by Plan B.
