B-but he already did??
And plus, isn't he doing The Wager or Roosevelt with DiCaprio??
I highly doubt this will be realized.

B-but he already did?? And plus, isn't he doing The Wager or Roosevelt with DiCaprio?? Roosevelt is likely not happening. DiCaprio's aged out of the role (not that he was ever truly right for it), and they just proceeded with the History Channel docuseries that DiCaprio executive produced. The Wager feels like it's gonna go the route of Devil and the White City. Just because DiCaprio/Scorsese attach themselves to a project does not mean it's going to get done. It just means they snapped up the rights, to do with as they please.

I would guess/hope he's just being polite while he's there, and as soon as he gets out of Dodge he'll be all:

Unless it’s something never announced..
If he meant Jesus literally— there’s a series he was developing with Schrader, on The Apostles and Apocrypha.
Otherwise, he’s mentioned before wanting to adapt Home by Marilynne Robinson about a retired reverend and his prodigal son—obviously dealing directly with faith. I wanna see him do that one, in an Ordet-esque way. (Remember the smaller scale movies Marty!)

Who is going to fund this? I know a film about Jesus is a little different but it took decades to make Silence and it was a financial failure.

I am still not taking this seriously as something that is actually going to happen, but considering he has very literally already made this fucking movie the only reason to do it again would be to produce a sanitized Authorized Biopic version for the masses, and that would most definitely not be a financial failure. Mel Gibson made torture porn in Aramaic out of this story and it was one of the box office successes of the century. People would probably fall over themselves to finance it.

Why is my first thought "I have nipples, Jesus - can you milk me?"

Why is my first thought "I have nipples, Jesus - can you milk me?" Jesus absolutely could milk Robert De Niro

I didn't think he was serious when I saw this headline everywhere.
You can't beat the cast of the great Jesus of Nazareth miniseries though!

Silence was so good I'd be down for Scorsese just doing Bergman-esq "crisis of faith" movies for his last few films. Outside of maybe if he wanted to do the Sinatra movie.

Marty on life, career, religion. From last week, May 27. Update: Well, here's the script (a little down the link) - pretty much a short documentary idea of Scorsese, his voice, confronting big religious questions in the modern day while incorporating his life and work. "Perhaps the basis for a film" Scorsese adds, so perhaps a feature doc or docudrama off this concept script?

From today's Time profileHome first announced in 2016, he still wants to do and I hope he does (casting Pacino/Joaquin as the father son is the homerun waiting to happen).

Scorsese doing a Marilynne Robinson adaptation? Interesting. But I will believe it when I see it. Between that, The Wager, and this nascent Jesus movie...
