Hollywood’s true end goal is to never have to pay a human to make a MCU flick. ChatGPT could probably crank out the entire script for phase 6 right now and no one would notice

Hollywood’s true end goal is to never have to pay a human to make a MCU flick. I'm pretty sure the last few MCU films I've seen had an AI-generated script polished by an intern, so this checks out.

Gonna be interesting to see how long this one lasts. Isn't reality TV the result of the last one?

Doesn't sound like this will be over anytime soon. Tbh Hollywood deserves it. The fact that actors are paid millions, many of them barely have to work at all especially for the dumb superhero crap, while writers are paid peanuts is probably the reason why cinema is in such dire state these days.

Most working actors are not paid enough through acting alone to make a living. Even among those that are, The Rock's salary is not the reason why studios don't want to pay writers streaming residuals or why they are going to try to use A.I. to write screenplays. No need to cast employee against employee when it's a matter of corporate greed.

Most working actors are not paid enough through acting alone to make a living. Nor are most writers, sometimes even successful writers. When you compare actors and writers of comparable stature, the pay disparity is completely ridiculous considering that actor is arguably the least important component to a project. Even among those that are, The Rock's salary is not the reason why studios don't want to pay writers streaming residuals or why they are going to try to use A.I. to write screenplays. No need to cast employee against employee when it's a matter of corporate greed. These two are not directly related, sure, but the fact that studios are willing to pay someone like The Rock, who's got about as much acting talent as a rock, millions, but refuse to pay writers streaming residuals and are trying to cut corners using AI tells you all you need to know about the situation.

Studios will only spend money where they feel it necessary and nothing more. They do not care about the art of the project. They will pay The Rock because audiences will pay to see The Rock in much larger numbers than they will pay to see a film written by Aaron Sorkin. The moment studios figure out how they can sell a movie that's just deepfakes of known stars written by A.I., they'll do that. Until then, they will pay as little as they can down the line.

Jonathan Nolan on the right looking... unrecognizable. They fucked him over Westworld because his brother left WB. Lol, just a thought. 3rd season was unfortunately disappointing.

Here's hoping they can hold the line. The studios are acting shady with that AI bullshit. It's beyond shady -- it's cartoonish at this point. I mean, for fuck's sake, Netflix has an episode of Black Mirror literally dealing with this concept streaming as this whole mess is reaching critical mass. It's going to be a really rough time in the short term, but if both unions can hold fast, they can break through.

Do all the studios have to agree to a deal or just a majority? Or can they individually? I see the legacy studios coming back to the table but think Netflix would be willing to hold out for years.
