This show is fucking great. Finally got into it and am now 5 eps into S3. First season was a little rough around the edges but still hilarious at times, but Devito really ties the whole cast together. Glad to hear. The writing of the show gets better. It loses some of its edge (at least for me) in seasons 13 and 14, but season 15 (2021) really picked it up. Season 2 was an upgrade over season 1 because they added Danny Devito and stopped making Sweet Dee the voice of reason. Season 3 was upgrade over season 1 &2 because they stopped reminding the audience these are terrible, regressive people. There are some banned episodes. One of the banned episodes is one of my top three episodes overall, so I hope Tommen_Saperstein has access.

The bloopers are great too. It is ashamed some of the episodes were banned. They are really good and not the slightest bit offensive.

If I start this, can I skip Season 1 so I can get to the good stuff?

If I start this, can I skip Season 1 so I can get to the good stuff? I'd say it is worth watching Season 1 because there are callbacks in the future seasons and running plotlines that require some knowledge of Season 1 events. But it is interesting to see how the characters become so radically different from their origins, and with DeVito not in it the gang does feel like it's missing something. I think of Season 1 as a fascinating artifact more than anything else, but it is easily my least favourite season.

If I start this, can I skip Season 1 so I can get to the good stuff? I'd say just jump right in with S1 E1. First season definitely had some rough spots but if you're thinking about getting into a soon-to-be 18-season show then 6 20-minute eps isn't gonna set you back lol. I think I binged it in two sittings and the penultimate "The Gang Finds a Dead Guy" had me laughing my ass off.

I'm committed now

If I start this, can I skip Season 1 so I can get to the good stuff? You can. However, they do introduce relevant characters in episodes 3, 4, and 7. The show's humor is a bit of an acquired taste. It's about degenerate people who own a bar in downtown Philly. They spend their days yelling and back stabbing each other, and learn absolutely nothing. If anything, they become WORSE human beings. The show has a large, worldwide following because it is completely politically incorrect and the creators of the show intentionally go over-the-top. The deeper you can into the seasons, the more ridiculous these characters get.

I see them more as a "warm-up exercise" and a reflection of being a test show. It gives you a flavor of the type of humor soon to come. If you like sick, twisted humor, this is the show for you.

@ Brother Fease whoo boy you weren't kidding about S13 and 14. Binging it I really got a sense of the drop in quality especially since some of my favorite seasons came right before. Immediately jumping in S13 with the Mindy Kaling guest spot and weird MAGA reference (has nothing to do with the ep's plot AT ALL) it felt like something was definitely off. And the double-header "Charlie Home Alone" and "Gang Wins the Big Game" are probably my two least favorite eps so far. but overall this has been super fun to binge and the seasons have been consistently hilarious. Just have to finish up S14 and 15 and then I'll be all caught up

Those are really good, the rest were okay to bad. The Ladies Boot and two Football episodes were incredibly bad. This is what happens when Glenn Howerton decides to do AP Bio.

Season 16 seems to be off to a great start so far and a return to form from the prior couple of seasons. I don’t think the show’s ever had a completely bad season, but S15 had maybe my least favorite episode in “The Gang Buys a Roller Rink.” I know what they were going for, and I like when they experiment, like with S13’s “The Gang Does a Clip Show” or better yet, S10’s “Charlie Work,” which is an all-timer, but Roller Rink just felt way too off-brand for my liking.

But even "The Gang Buys A Roller Rink" has the fantastic scenes with Dennis and Frank that feel on par with classic Sunny. Even if some of the episodes are wobbly at times, I never feel like there's an episode that I'd call skippable.

It works better as a fantasy episode rather than an actual backstory. What happened in the episode contradicts what we know about these characters.
My favorite Sunny Episode has to be The Gang Turns Black. The Gang Desperately Tries to Win an Award comes close.

Love when they experiment. "Charlie Work" was probably my favorite episode but I also loved "The Suburbs" and I just finished the noir tribute "The Janitor Always Mops Twice" last night and had a lot of fun with it. And yeah even though S13 was definitely the weakest so far for me the "Clip Show" ep was a standout for how surreal it was. I assumed starting that it would just be a greatest hits reel like that one episode of The Office but then it totally went off the rails.

Does anyone have a way to watch the 'banned' episodes?? Which episodes are ‘banned’? S4 E3: America's Next Top Paddy's Billboard Model Contest S6 E9: Dee Reynolds: Shaping America's Youth S8 E2: The Gang Recycles Their Trash S9 E9: The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6 S14 E3: Dee Day banned in the sense they were removed from Hulu mostly due to blackface and racial stereotypes. I personally didn't care for the Lethal Weapon parody eps but I remember "Dee Day" being pretty hilarious.

I personally didn't care for the Lethal Weapon parody eps but I remember "Dee Day" being pretty hilarious. They apparently removed them from Hulu, Netflix and the DVDs. But you can watch them on Google Play. I watched Season 14 on DVD and they removed the Dee Day episode. I laughed out loud when Dee had Dennis remove his makeup. To be honest, I am offended that they were “banned” in the first place. There are episodes way way more offensive — music episode / Redacted Person and the rock bottom episode.
