No Lanthimos Maybe Venice I have a feeling we get Poor Things at Venice and then AND at Cannes in 2024, especially if Poor Things wins something big at the Lido and they don't want there to be immediate Yorgos burnout at Venice.

The Yeoh train just can't be stopped. And it's starting to get really over the top. There's a poll running on reddit on Oscar best actress and Yeoh beat Colman. Lmao.

I mean, that's Reddit and recency bias for you. I imagine Yeoh will run the table until she hits Blanchett or Portman (which are Reddit favourites).

PIXAR's Elemental will close the fest. The trailer looks like Zootopia rip-off, but their track record in Cannes is pretty faultless so I'm cautiously optimistic.

This is so delightfully random. I would love to see John C. Reilly as the president of the main competition.

Bit of a flop jury. It’s obvious Thierry was finding it difficult to get people to agree to do it. I’m excited that Rungano Nyoni has a new film on the way though!

that jury barely has a heavy weight of the industry, I like their work separately but all together is quite insipid...
In the following weeks after the official lineup announcement, two more films were added (a shame Amat Escalante was renegated to the Premeire section) :
. Black Flies (Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire) looking at that cast and plot gives me sunday afternoon fx channel pilot vibes... but the director's previous movie was very good
. Le Retour (Catherine Corsini)

Honestly, I don't get why people are shitting on the jury as "a flop" or "underwhelming." Looks like a healthy mix to me of diverse perspectives and ages.

Of course the French remain completely unbothered by domestic abuse lol. So slandering an innocent & exonerated witch-hunt victim with pathetically braindead, empty & devoid-of-proof non-arguments isn't bad enough, you just had to add a little RACISM to your self-righteous SJW virtue-signaling pose? You truly are a worthless hypocrite. 🖕🤮🖕
