This is about actors and actress that maybe they were overlooked by the Oscars. Maybe because they never received an Academy Award Nomination (Myrna Low, Edward G. Robinson) , or maybe they were nominated one (Miriam Hopkins) or even twice much less than they deserve. Or maybe received several Oscar nom but never won (Kerr, Glenn Close, Arthur Kennedy).- Or maybe even won an Oscar, but for "mysterious" or "Scandals" or "Politics" reasons, they never won an Oscar again (example Bette Davis)

1) First Case to discuss Miriam Hopkins (1902-1972) Despite her fame as a talented actress, she was only nominated one time for the Oscar for Becky Sharp. 70 years later Reese Witherspoon made the remake in Vanity Fair that was destroyed by critics (However Witherspoon is an Academy Award Winner Actress)-
I remember Hopkins in The Heiress and specially in Carrie. Apparently not only she was very talented and praised in her prime, but also had box office success. So why she was never won an Oscar or at least nominated again. Why she didn't received at least an Honorary Oscar? Any thoughts?

I have one: Dana Andrews. The fact that he didn't get any love for The Ox-Bow Incident (should have won) and The Best Years of Our Lives (my runner-up) utterly stymies me to this day.

Samuel L. Jackson - Should have more than only 1 nomination (Deserved 5 noms in my book) Donald Sutherland - Never being nominated is ridiculous John Turturro - Same as with Donald Sutherland John Goodman - No nominations? Come on man..smh

* Gena Rowlands is maybe the most gifted American actress - nominated just twice
* You can make an easy case that as an actor overall James Earl Jones is an all-time American great - especially across all 3 mediums (TV/Stage/Movies) where he rivals Robards / Pacino / Scott / Lemmon / Duvall and is the closest American PoC rival to Denzel Washington - if you separate actors by color - (which you shouldn't btw) ........nominated just once
* I could make a case for Harvey Keitel as the best American actor of the 90s (very arguable), and the best performance of the 90s (even more arguable - Bad Lieutenant) - nominated just once
* Irene Dunne was one of the best and most versatile actresses of her era - and could be wildly funny and wildly emotional in drama - 5 nods, no wins........wtf Academy
