I’m guessing Triangle of Sadness wasn’t eligible. I’m not optimistic enough to think they know The Menu is better.
But Glass Onion! Fuckin’ A!

I’m guessing Triangle of Sadness wasn’t eligible. It wasn't eligible. Neither were Banshees, The Whale, Living, All Quiet, Aftersun...

Elvis missing here despite Banshees, Triangle and Aftersun all being ineligible, isn't a great sign for Butler.

But it's never a good sign when a supposed Top 7 film doesn't have enough passion to even get in here with all it had going for it. In a race as close as Actor this year, every little thing counts.

In a race as close as Actor this year, every little thing counts. Oh... I thought you meant it as a sarcastic joke about the contrived maps people draw between various awards organizations If we're talking seriously, I don't see much (if any) correlation between the movie's WGA miss and Butler's BA chances. So the movie itself didn't have enough passion among the members of the writers guild (not surprising considering it's a basic musical biopic script and they went for more original movies), big deal. Doesn't mean they weren't mighty impressed by Butler himself. People seem to forget that sometimes (often actually) an awards body just judges what it's supposed to judge and doesn't give a verdict on the film in general.

Elvis missing here despite Banshees, Triangle and Aftersun all being ineligible, isn't a great sign for Butler. I think Austin Butler is the favorite now to win Best Actor. The Whale missing Picture is a strong sign.
Current ranking for me: 1. Austin Butler 2. Colin Farrell 3. Brendan Fraser 4. Bill Nighy Not the Science Guy
5. Paul Mescal
You maybe talking about Baz Luhrman's personal butler. If so, I agree.

Me too - and you know, Butler couldn't drag Hanks but the Academy loves the acting in Banshees - which likely won't win in the Supporting categories......so does that mean Banshees goes 0 for 4 in Acting awards?........I tend to doubt that.........

Original Screenplay: THE MENU Awful script but I'll give--it's not as bad as the movie. Yup, these are the same voters who gave Don't Look Up their win last year. At least their taste is consistent.
