This legitimately devastates me. Boothe, wielder of the greatest moniker any actor has ever had, was one of my all-time favorite character actors. His portrayal of Jim Jones ranks as one of the most terrifying performances in history, and he also crushed it in things like Deadwood, Tombstone and countless other films that, typically, relied on him being a cool, calculating son-of-a-bitch. One of my favorite character actors indeed. He will be missed.

Oh my god, devastating news indeed. I fucking loved that guy. I'll give a shoutout to his badass performance in Southern Comfort. And I need to track down that Jim Jones movie, been on my watchlist for years. Very very sad to hear, damn. Rest In Peace.

This is the same man who played a cowboy, senator and an super-intelligent gorilla, and all played them superbly. I love his voice to boot as well. RIP, respect!

Such a great character actor. I didn't know about him crossing the picket lines to pick up his Emmy until the last actors' strike, and I do think that probably played some part in why he didn't get more awards recognition later on his career or maybe why he was typecast as the villain most of the time.
RIP. Condolences to his family and friends.

That really, really sucks. Wonder what these means for the Deadwood movie? A Deadwood without Cy Tolliver is no Deadwood at all.

Damn shame.
Most recently, for me, he was the only true bright spot in the mess that was A Dame to Kill For (aside from the boobies... those were nice too).

Can't argue with that. I hated how polished and slick it all felt. The first film had an unmistakable grit to it, but this was just sheen, no substance.

I gasped when I heard this news. I can't imagine the Deadwood reunion movie without Cy. But seriously such a talented actor. I haven't seen the Jim jones Story yet but I seriously should. My dad was a really big fan of it. Definitely one of my favorite character actors. The kind of guy I would've loved to have cast in a meaty role if I had a tv show.
Also seems like he didn't have any more projects coming up. That's too bad. . I would've loved to have seen him in one last performance.
