Which of these (likely ) Oscar-nominated portrayals of the world's most iconic film star do you prefer?

I like what Williams does as Norma Jean quite a lot and mostly because is her own take on the person and fits her sensibilities as an actress like a glove but the moment she has to go full-on Marilyn I think is pretty comical. What de Armas has going for is the surreal/nightmarish edge that prevails throughout the film even though the whole vessel/iconography in which is seen could've worked against her, she finds individuality in all the facets of the character. It's not a top 10 of the year performance for me but what she does, does it right.

Williams has the sex appeal of a caterpillar. Clearly de Armas wins here, she is a Ferrari, while Williams is a Twingo.

I think Ana was five or six times the Marilyn that Michelle Williams was. The parts of My Week with Marilyn where she was playing the part were awful.
On the other hand, Williams was like twenty times the Norma Jean that Ana was, and given that is what most of each movie focused on I would have to go with her overall.

Easily -- easily! -- Ana de Armas. Michelle Williams was horrid and I consider that one of the worst nominated performances of the last twenty-five years.
