Also, Viola Davis is not particularly good in (the overrated) The Woman King and Riseborough blows her out of the water specifically this year......

David Lynch was better than Judd Hirsch.

Deadwyler and Davis missing, and Risenborough getting in for a movie that nobody has actually seen, sorely because a lot of people in the industry suddenly supported her for some reason, is quite frankly horrendous optics on the academy's part. So Riseborough’s performance wasn’t worthy? Or are you just making this a race issue?

David Lynch was better than Judd Hirsch. Co-sign. Hirsch was bad.

I really need to see Aftersun and ToS ToS is my #1 of the year, but I still have to wait another 4 weeks for Aftersun I try to wait until streaming if I miss something in the theater, but might just shell out the $6 each to rent these.

To all the people bitching and moaning about Andrea's nomination : have you actually watched TO LESLIE ? Her performance was absolutely phenomenal !!!Or are you simply mad because Andrea is too white for your taste ? So many great small-budget indie gems get overlooked by the Academy . So kudos to all the actors who have campaigned for these incredible film + performance. I haven't seen To Leslie (planning to though), I was mostly bitching about Williams and in particular de Armas' nominations. i I don't mind Williams' nomination that much but De Armas was nothing sepcial in the very mediocre BLONDE , I agree.

Some quick reactions before I read thru this thread: -Fabelmans had a really nice showing -EEAAO had a better showing than I anticipated and I should probably start considering it the frontrunner -TGM making screenplay but missing Cinematography is beyond baffling -Supporting Actor…woah -Happy de Armas made it and Risebourogh actually happening is cool. “Film Twitter” is going to have a huge meltdown I’m sure though over no Deadwyler or Davis. I look forward to that. -Happy for everything Banshees and All Quiet I’m sure I’ll have more thoughts later So happy for Brian Tyree Henry. I thought his chances were pretty small after missing most everything, but he deserves it especially over Redmayne scoring a third nomination. Also as a Taxi fan, even if I wouldn’t have voted for him, I’ll take Hirsch over Dano. And love that Chau made it finally.

Incredibly happy for everything Fabelmans even though no Dano is a shame and the continuation of their Michael Kahn & Sarah Broshar dismissal for top-tier work is a travesty. Main shocks are probably no Pinocchio in Score/Song and no Claudio Miranda for me. What the fuck is winning Best Cinematography?

These nominations are gross. OMG! I’d sort of hate to be Andrea Riseborough today, and everyone that backed her. She got her Oscar nomination, but so not a good look that Davis and Deadwyler missed. Plus so many wtf noms like Elvis over Top Gun in Cinematography. FUCK "FILM TWITTER"!!! No great character actor like Riseborough should hate getting their first Oscar nomination after devoted & passionate championing from their more famous peers. They should be crying tears of joy and letting the reality of it sink in. It's a BEAUTIFUL thing that pure deep unbridled passion & respect for a performance that genuinely moved them led to an internet campaign by famous Hollywood veterans to champion one of their lesser-known but prolific peers to a nod. If Film Twitter doesn't like it...well, that's just a BONUS!

Oh, and De Armas getting in. That entire Riseborough nomination process, just perplexed me a bit, because it was so sudden.

Yeah, I think if you’ve seen the movie, you’re hard pressed to argue against Riseborough. If anything, I think De Armas is the real odd duck here

Judd Hirsch over Paul Dano confuses me.
Do the Academy members hate Dano that much?

Oh honeys, it's OK everyone. I'm OK.
Naturally I am devastated to have been snubbed yet again, especially after the trouble I took to send academy members those TikTok videos.
I'm sure they'll look back one day and my name with be up there with Glenn & Amy... as actresses mistakenly overlooked for Oscars.
I'm going to lie down now.

She’s the only thing anchoring that movie, to the point that it threatens to best even her (and I get it, don’t lump the actress with the movie, but it is a case where the movie and the material bleeds onto her work). And the fact that she makes it in any way watchable is miraculous, but at the same time, I think she goes for broke in something that, honestly, did not deserve her, and it shows.

Andrea Riseborough has my admiration (she already had tbh, great actress) she did it !!! Dreams come true. I'll watch the movie later. Something else that fills me with joy is Alice Rohrwacher is now an academy nominee Are we witnessing the last moments of the friendship between the three amigos ? Allison Williams is slowly turning into Jennifer Connelly wtf
