At this point "defying odds" should legally be Cameron's middle name.....the "awe" factor goes so far when all the competition looks flat and pedestrian in comparison.....even people I know irl who haven't seen it say "I will see it soon" - I know that's not actual "scientific data" but that's across all ages .......this is the "you must see it on the biggest screen possible" movie of the last few years obviously - predicting where it ends up is turning into a fools errand.......

Okay, can we just acknowledge how impressive it is that Puss in Boots has managed to stay afloat like this.
Also, because I do like to stir the pot, this wonderful tweet…

Everyone who doubted this movie seriously has no box office knowledge. Cameron has brought back to theaters what's been missing for a long, long time: a legitimate spectacle worthy of getting off your couch to go see. It's the type of movie that demands to be seen on the big screen, as in any other format, it simply wouldn't be the same experience. Also helps that it's coming out at the perfect time (holidays, post-COVID rush, basically no competition).

Avatar 2 doesn't quite as do as well as Avatar 1's third weekend, but still that's a mighty impressive increase. Overseas is even crazier though, it increased strongly there.

Avatar: The Way of Water set to become highest grossing film of 2022 Worldwide. The King of the Box Office wins again
Matt Damon will be alright financially of course, but man lost out on a shit ton of money with this Avatar franchise.

They should have actually called the movie "Puss 2" and made all the marketing 70's porn parodies only with cats.

Avatar will end its run at $2.2B. Avatar did end its run above $2.7B. It stayed in theaters almost a full year.
Avatar: The Way of Water has made half of $3B, in three weeks. I am not saying The Way of Water will crack $3B, but I am keeping an open mind.

Yeah, this isn't getting there. $2.3B currently, it could go to $2.4B with future re-releases.
