Glass Onion Living She Said The Whale Women Talking
Does anybody know if Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is eligible? If so, I’m beginning to think it could slip in over The Whale.

People are dismissing Top Gun's BP chances because they're assuming it won't get any ATL noms, but it's being severely underestimated in this category. At this point, if it's nominated here, I think it's winning. It's by far the strongest overall film in contention, and people passionate about the movie aren't going to care that it's not a traditionally baity screenplay. Anecdotally, I'm reading about actual screenwriters who think it should be taught in film schools. Women Talking is so weaksauce at this point, I don't think it's supposed narrative will be enough to carry it to the win. There's a very real chance neither it nor Glass Onion are BP nominees, and Top Gun is a top 4 BP contender (arguably higher), so it losing to a non-BP nominee just seems incredibly unlikely to me.

I want to predict The Whale, but I don't know who to kick out.

I laugh at the existence of Living, but I had no idea Ishiguro wrote it, and if the thing can turn him into an Oscar nominee then I'm all for it. Seems like the kind of thing that would be pretty locked in to win at BAFTA, which could help.

I would throw into the pit Black Panther as well. Why do you think AQOTWF would be seen as "better writing"? 1. It's based on one of the most acclaimed novels of the twentieth century, which already spawned a Best Picture winner. 2. There are a lot of big moments, particularly with the Daniel Bruhl storyline, that allows for innovation in the adaptation process, and that would appeal to writers. 3. Netflix seems like they're finally realizing All Quiet is a contender with it hitting the shortlist in so many tech categories.

Whoa I had no idea I got all 5 in the end. Top Gun is what kept me from 5/5. I thought Director or Actor were more likely. I gotta say, that was the most shocked I was by a nomination if we're being honest.

Interesting news regarding this category. Possibly because of some copy write issues. Couldn’t find the scripted thread
