Insanely easy process. I assumed I'd need to include tons of info in the application but it's really just basic info like name, SSN, date of birth and email. Can be submitted in two minutes and if you filed taxes for 2020 or 2021, they have your tax info already.
now let's see if it actually works.

It will be interesting to see how fast-tracked the case is against this in the courts - Missouri is hearing the case already so that ruling may be imminent......whatever happens this is going to be revisited continuously over the next 2 years probably Whether student debtors will get the loan relief promised by President Joe Biden is now in the hands of a Missouri federal judge.
For nearly two hours Wednesday, attorneys for the six states challenging the plan to forgive almost $500 billion in student debt argued with Department of Justice lawyers over which laws should govern the decision.news.stlpublicradio.org/education/2022-10-13/missouri-judge-hears-lawsuit-from-gop-attorneys-general-challenging-biden-student-debt-relief

This is good news. It's insane to me how expensive it is to go to college in the US. I don't know how it is in England, but in Australia you just pay like a $150 'utilities fee' every semester, and then you don't have to start paying back your actual Uni fees until you start earning a certain amount each year. For example, my Mum has only just started paying hers back now that she has a full time job, because after she graduated she did a job for a few years where she wasn't earning above the threshold, and then she started having kids and left work.

The emergency request, filed to Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who handles emergency matters arising from Wisconsin, comes shortly after the administration began accepting applications for the program.

I guess (?) doesn't want to meddle in this case with so many cases pending in lower courts so for now it's Missouri leading the legal challenge:
03:13 CNN — Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett rejected a challenge to the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness program on Thursday, declining to take up an appeal brought by a Wisconsin taxpayers group.

Well, you never know......but a recap of arguments today - decision in the Summer: Supreme Court seems ready to reject student loan forgivenessapnews.com/article/student-loan-forgiveness-supreme-court-hearing-2128da75fc27ff3bcc0c3804ebd98aa7 WASHINGTON (AP) — Conservative justices holding the Supreme Court’s majority seem ready to sink President Joe Biden’s plan to wipe away or reduce student loans held by millions of Americans.
In arguments lasting more than three hours Tuesday, Chief Justice John Roberts led his conservative colleagues in questioning the administration’s authority to broadly cancel federal student loans because of the COVID-19 emergency.
Loan payments that have been on hold since the start of the coronavirus pandemic three years ago are supposed to resume no later than this summer. Without the loan relief promised by the Biden plan, the administration’s top Supreme Court lawyer said, “delinquencies and defaults will surge.”

Yeah this isn't happening young Leftists .......Supreme Court...... yadda, yadda Conservative justices were in the majority in Friday’s 6-3 decision that effectively killed the $400 billion plan that President Joe Biden announced last year.
A sharply divided Supreme Court ruled Friday that the Biden administration overstepped its authority in trying to cancel or reduce student loans for millions of Americans.
