So this one is PACKED at the top. I think the top five is very strong and any could have been contender to win in a normal year. In no particular order I see....
The Fableman's- More middlebrow than the others but they went for Belfast and Greenbook. The star power of Kuschner and Spielberg could also be a factor EEAAO- I don't really have to explain this one. Extremely original and well received. Banshees- Much respected still Oscarless auteur in perhaps his most acclaimed film Tar- The most acclaimed film of the year Babylon- Biggest unknown but I have read the screenplay and it is great. People might not know what they are in for though.
You think anything outside this five can sneak in? Triangle of Sadness maybe? I would say most years yeah but I don't know.

I'm predicting the same five with EEAAO probably winning because the Academy sure likes to reward high concept movies like that in this category. The Fabelmans and Banshees seem like surefire nominees to me too.
I can definitely see Triangle of Sadness popping up here (presumably instead of Babylon). Or maybe even Bardo if it hits big with the Academy which I suspect it may.

The Banshees of Inisherin Everything Everywhere All At Once The Fabelmans Babylon Triangle of Sadness
I can see Tar getting shut out of screenplay but Field gets the Director nod like PTA did in 2017.

Brutal. Ugh. I am going to go with Kushner for the win, for right now. He is a respected writer without an Oscar.

The Fablemans EEAAO Decision to LeaveTar Banshees Over Babylon and Triangle?? Explain. No problem. I think the Academy throws in an international screenplay, just like we saw with The Worst Person in the World. I don't have much faith in Babylon too.

Going to change my vote. Instead of DTL, I am going to go with Till.
