They're The Fab elmans. It's already becoming a 'Coleman' style pet peeve of mine this season Anyway, back to the topic. I've no fucking clue. As I've said before, I'll believe in a modern Spielberg movie winning only when I see it (which is partially due to me not wanting to get my hopes up) so I'll stick with Women Talking for now as it seems like the big 'issuetainment' movie of the season.

Oh my God, thanks for catching that!!!!! I’ll make sure to correct that soon as I can! Assuming I can (I’m not sure if I can change a poll option after it’s been posted, but I’ll try) But yeah, the movie looks good on paper, but I’ll wait a while before calling myself a true believer when it comes to it being a front runner.

Managed to change the spelling to the *actual* correct spelling, but I had to add a new poll. Apologies to those who already voted, but everything is looking good now though!!!

Sticking with Fabelmans.
Babylon, EEAAO and Women Talking are serious threats though.

Sticking with Fabelmans. Babylon, EEAAO and Women Talking are serious threats though. Fabelmans is probably the safe bet at this point and I'm interested in seeing how long it can maintain front runner status, but I am also interested in seeing how far EEAAO can go this Oscar season!! It might be one of my top story lines this year.

Like EEAAO I want to see how high Top Gun: Maverick can go this year. There are plenty of fun story lines this year.

I'll stick with The Fabelmans but I'm not really that confident in it. Watch it be Top Gun.

My order here is: The Fablemans, The Whale, and then All Quiet on the Western Front.
Thank you OP for putting in both films.

The Fabelmans has a decent shot, but I'm skittish about any movie maintaining front runner status for that long. It could happen, I just want to wait and see. But I can see Top Gun being a major player this year.

I'm glad that someone else has faith in All Quiet on the Western Front having a good shot *somewhere* in the Oscar race this year!! Absolutely. I saw the trailer and read the early reviews. They all compared it to 1917 and said it tells the story from the German POV. I kept on thinking of Letters from Iwo Jima and Dunkirk too. All Best Picture nominees.

The Fabelmans is the strongest now, but I think it will lose steam in a few months and another film will win instead, except I have no idea what that other film is at this point.

Sticking with Fabelmans. Babylon, EEAAO and Women Talking are serious threats though. Swap Babylon with Top Gun: Maverick and I agree.

TOP GUN Maverick if Avatar 2 doesn't steal its thunder.
- no one will see Woman Talking - The Fabelmans will flop - TAR will polarize the Academy

Seriously starting to think it might end up being Banshees of Inisherin or EEAAO.

Can you add Banshees to November poll?

The Fabelmans on paper but it's suuuuch an obvious frontrunner that I don't see how it lasts. Sticking with Women Talking for now.

EEAAO seems to me to being the one people should fear - critically acclaimed, made money, will make more money too, cultural significance, has passionate supporters, will show up on precursors.......at the start of the season people were saying Yeoh might miss - but she won't and this could get a lot of nods and probably has the BS Actor frontrunner (I guess?)

Yeah, I think in the end it will be one of these two films because I don’t think The Fabelmans will be able to sustain frontrunner status until the Oscars. With Babylon I thought it might win too, but I don’t know right now it just seems like there’s a lot of negative vibes around it. Then with Women Talking, it’s certainly possible that voters support it because of Roe vs. Wade being struck down, Me Too, and other issues, but the further we get away from the Supreme Court’s decision and from Me Too, I could see more and more voters not thinking/caring about wanting a film centered around women’s issue to win Best Picture.
