Seems fine for Darling, though I'm expecting it to be heavily frontloaded.

Guess you could say that Warner Brothers should absolutely be concerned about Don't Worry Darling. Good for the Avatar re-release.

But I thought nobody cared about Avatar anymore and it wasn't in any kind of cultural conversation

Huh? If they were expecting better than a $20mil opening for Don't Worry Darling, I think they had some unreasonable expectations.

Not a great Friday to Saturday number For Don't Worry Darling. Everything else seem to hold fine, though, and Bullet Train crossed 100m. Avatar also made 10m with its re-release.

Not a great Friday to Saturday number For Don't Worry Darling. It made the same as The Woman King the week before and that was considering doing well, including by yourself, and that had a considerably higher budget than DWD. So I don't really understand this narrative.

So I don't really understand this narrative. Difference is The Woman King had a much better Friday-to-Sunday multiplier than DWD with a significantly lower preview+opening day number ($1.7 million and $6.6m for TWK vs. $3.1m and $9.4m for DWD) and TWK has great WOM including an A+ Cinemascore which DWD... doesn't have. TWK already had a fairly decent hold this weekend and is likely to leg out to somewhere around $65-75 million at least, while DWD would be lucky to crack $50 million in the end. DWD also had a lot more hype than TWK online and is an important film for Warner Bros to save their year, so both performing roughly similar with way worse WOM isn't good news for DWD.
