Are you a fan of this film and its performances? A totally against-type turn for Gregory Peck! It's really chilling to think that the movie was made before Mengele died...

Enjoyably ridiculous for the most part, though Mason, Olivier (largely) and one scene wonder Uta Hagen, add some more serious minded gravitas. Peck's performance though embraces the trashy nature of the material and is worthy of the term hamtastic.

Ive seen several years ago. I just remember Marthe Keller boobs, and an stupid wrong visiĆ³n of Uruguay as a Selvatic country. While in real life looks like the State of Georgia, rivers and Ocean. Most of people here looks like Ron De Santis, Marco Rubio or Brian Kemp. We also have our conservative right winged version of Stacey Abrams.

I remember hating it. Utterly ridiculous premise and plays too straight to tap into its own camp potential.

Peck is mom's favourite, but this movie isn't. And she saw nazists in real life.

I love that ridiculous farce of a movie so god damn much. Blending its complete absurdities with this sort of slow-burn detective movie is no mean feat, but if you're going to get someone to do it get the man who made the classic about the talking apes.

It has a 70s-Schaffner problem of being overlong and a little choppy around its strong perfs. I like everything to do with Olivier here....... all of his snooping and comedic bits and his sibling chemistry with Lilli Palmer (they're great together). Even tho he has Oscar noms and Emmy wins galore in his late career......I feel Olivier still isn't appreciated enough in these later, very sensitive and heartbreaking, yet humorous, lightly lined perfs... Love Among the Ruins, A Little Romance, even his King Lear.... they all have a boyish energy that you practically didn't see at all in his earlier work.
