Saw this in IMAX tonight. Exactly the kind of spooky I want to see on the big screen. Still an all time great. From my original 2018 review…
”Set within the busy beaches of Amity, Jaws is a careful and deliberate slow-burner carefully building up to the main quest to kill the monstrous shark. In many ways, Jaws feels a lot like a companion piece to Duel, sharing familiar strands of everyday normal folk struggling to confront a force of nature they don’t understand. That attacks and kills without bias and at random, for reasons incomprehensible to those on land. Directed in the vein of a Hitchcock film, Spielberg is very wise in letting the tension of the piece simmer to a heated boil, leaving the shark offscreen with only suggestions of its presence, making the creature feel all the more ominous and unpredictable, taking a minimalist aesthetic to maximum effect. However, one huge leap Jaws makes is in fleshing out its characters. Anchored by the fabulous trio of shark hunters, Roy Scheider as the out of place newly appointed police chief , Robert Shaw as a PTSD-wracked sailor, and Richard Dreyfuss as the intellectual but reckless oceanographer, the film showcases great personality and dimension to their characters, with a woeful lack of preparation and great vulnerability generating tremendous suspense, while Spielberg ratchets up the intensity with every precise edit. And John Williams’ score is it’s own exercise in psychology. The impact that two simple, repetitive notes would have on a film like this is inspired, a decision that makes for one of his more terrifying efforts.”
EDIT: Can Spielberg put more of his oldies in IMAX? I would kill for Raiders and Private Ryan on that huge ass screen.

I saw it on the big screen a couple years ago and it's such a fantastic experience -- IMAX must have been incredible! What a timeless classic.
