Production starts in October."EXCLUSIVE: Sofia Coppola is set to start shooting her next movie on October 24th with an end date of December 2nd. The film is titled “Domino” and will be shot both in Toronto and California.
It was revealed on 08.22.22 that Coppola had received tax credits from the California Film Commission. It wasn’t mentioned for what film and when it would shoot, but now we know. I should hopefully be getting plot details on “Domino” next week.
Coppola’s last film was 2020’s “On the Rocks,” and, before that one,” 2017’s “The Beguiled,” which won her the Best Director prize at Cannes. For my money, her best films are still her first three (“The Virgin Suicides,” “Lost in Translation,” and “Marie Antoinette”).
We can now add Coppola to our ever-evolving Cannes 2023 predictions."

Autobiographical auteur movies seem to be in fashion these days so maybe she's cooking up something like that.

A totally unexpected choice! Priscilla’s memoir has just shot up on my must-read list.

Nice, it's exactly what Priscilla deserves after being a prop in the Luhrman version.
Tyler, you didn't ask me but I do watch Euphoria hahaha. Elordi has talked at lenght about his influences, and he goes to the basics, Brando, Pacino, Nicholson and he does put that on the screen, maybe a bit too thick and obvious from time to time, but on Euphoria he exudes a masculine, animalistic presence that rarely a young actor attempts nowadays, is an intriguing casting but the fact he'll do specific character work keeps me a bit esceptic.

Elordi is a baller. Some of the choices he makes with his character Nate on Euphoria are truly inspired. He's like a millennial Burt Lancaster.

I'm not really down with Elordi as Elvis,he's pretty good in Euphoria but there is absolutely no resemblance.Cailee doesn't look much like Priscilla either but she's a good actress and they need someone who can convincingly play a 14 yr old Priscilla, which she can.Ellie Bamber could've made a good Priscilla too imo.

There's either something wrong with filmmakers or film audiences and their/our craving of the same limited iconography and our craving to watch it, constantly on repeat when this story is known.
Not just Elvis / Marilyn - but Aretha, Whitney, Judy to some extent - all of whom have been done or if not even casual fans know the story ......etc. I can't be the only one who finds this stuff dull af.....
We had to sit through yet another Elvis whitewashing this year - which wasn't very good - even its lead performance wasn't THAT good btw - and heck if anybody deserved a daring 'Spencer" trapped in a horrorshow film re-telling it was the King......... but alas, no.......AND yet another Marilyn film (which may be good, I dunno, hope so)........but now a pic about Elvis' wife?
This movie may be good - but there were things happening in the 50s - that didn't pertain to those 2 and this strand of awareness - ffs that are far more worthy of a big screen film - heck, if you are going to do "people they slept with / married" (why?) ..........then Marilyn's Miller / Kazan relationships give you far more to say about the patriarchy (whatever), politics - sexual and otherwise - mental health, the male gaze, feminism.....
Shocked that she'd make this movie tbh....sorry to be a downer but kind of baffled by this project...

true, another biopic is nothing to be cheerful about, but at least I see it more as a way for Sofia to reedem the awful way Priscilla was reduced to a bare bones suffering wife in Elvis. And if there's a director that has stayed loyal to her sensibilities is her (that's why Little Mermaid never happened right ?) and maybe she can come with something interesting, not a textbook biopic, she turned the corset genre on its head with Marie Antoinette and all of her films have an evocation and mood of a particular time that in the end is what makes them alluring and compelling to watch, is not just sisters who commit suicides, or a bunch of southern gals in a big house in the middle of civil war, fingers crossed Priscilla is a mixture of all that.

@tyler Elordi is great on Euphoria. One of the best on there, even though I'm not crazy about his storylines. I'd rather see stuff like Fez and Rue at the creepy, drug hustling bird lady's house. But when he goes really, really dark, he sells it. It doesn't tell me anything about what he would do with Elvis though. And quite frankly, I've said this a million times, I've had enough of the musician biopics.
I actually wouldn't mind them doing more actors if they didn't do people like Marilyn over and over. There are plenty of other interesting Old Hollywood stars to go into. I want to see the Garbo film now.

This news got me all shook up.... doesn't sound interesting at all, but I like Sofia Coppola. What if this was "VAMPIRA" instead.... now that'd be a great bio-character... and you can imagine how she'd do it, too...

I don't know, we just had an Elvis movie that was pretty good and pretty much covered it. No way I can imagine anyone being better than Butler and Elvis is going to be an important part here The possibility of Hanks winning multiple razzies for playing the same character is the only thing to be excited about here.
