I didn't watch the game because I was busy watching Italy winning the volleyball world championship final 😁
Congrats to Alcaraz, even if his #1 ranking is affected by the lack of points given at Wimbledon and all the Covid troubles.

I was able to get tickets for this for the Grounds pass and one day of early tournament play - should be fun.......I've never attended a Slam before - if I can attend a Super Bowl that would be nice, um......I've been to a Stanley Cup final, NBA finals, World Series though......Lots of bands........Metallica once dedicated Whiplash to me and my friends and shook our hands.........good times.......good times

No men's champion has defended the US Open title since Federer won his fifth in 2008. It's been 15 fucking years  and if Alcaraz wants to break that streak he will have to do it the hard way. The bottom half is a joke. The women's draw (for once) is really nicely balanced by comparison. If we get Swiatek/Gauff, Rybakina/Muchova, Andreescu/Pegula, and Jabeur/Sabalenka as the final 8, that would be tasty as hell, but the US Open is all about upsets in the womens game, so that's probably unlikely. |

Aug 28th-Sep 10This was so much fun.........I got to see a little of several matches including part of two sets for Djokovic - Miralles and a little Świątek-Saville - it's pretty cool how the stadiums are laid out and how if you're smart (we weren't too smart though) you can be really clever and maximize how you can see your favorite players all through the whole day........and everybody is looking for your tickets and looking to swap theirs..........it's kind of like another world and then you have to leave anyway because you have a job and shit  Ah well........maybe next year too............ |

So sad for Ryba, happy for Cirstea though, she has put the years in. Anyway, Iga and Godstapenko in the next round could be a goddamn blockbuster. Probably not, considering one has barely dropped games and one has played three-setters all the way, but Ostapenko doesn't follow the normal rules of the universe, and she is 3-0 in this matchup, so who knows what might happen.
