"Lamentation" from Millennium's first season is also a terrifically spooky hour of television.

The Ice episode of The X Files freaked me out - it's their version of The Thing - whole episode was unbelievably tense ..not sure if it still would be......some little weird moments in The Caterpillar episode of Night Gallery where the "secret" is revealed....In The Night Stalker where Darren McGavin gets the closet door opened on him .....mostly stuff from my misspent youth might seem corny now tbh

I remember that scene in Moral Orel where his dad has a drunken meltdown and Orel is genuinely afraid that he might have to shoot his dad in self defense- all I could think was that it seemed way too "real life" for Adult Swim.

Robbwind made me physically ill when I first saw it. Just one example from back when GoT was good but hardly the only one.

in terms of straight horror, you gotta give it to Mike Flanigan. Haunting of Hill House - when the bug crawls out of the mouth of Nell's corpse. Fucking horrifying. And not even because it's a bug but pasty-skinned corpses are so viscerally scary to me (which is why Autopsy of Jane Doe is such a good time). And the way Flanigan just holds on her face and you're waiting for something spooky to happen. The bug is almost anti-climactic but the build-up is pure dread. Haunting of Bly Manor - when the snot-nosed brats lock Victoria Pedretti in the closet. Never been claustrophobic before, so thanks Mike Flanagan for giving me that
