I wasnt mesmered for this. I mean, was Ok, for teens, but not for all.- Except Ortega, none shines in this. In fact the adult are pretty bad.-

this was fun! Ortega is a perfect Wednesday. Casually cutting and deliciously deadpan and although there are lots of good elements here she really is the glue that holds them all together. Emma Myers is fun and the Enid/Wednesday friendship is super cute but most of the other teen characters are pretty generic highschoolers and most of the adults are generic too (not Eugene though, Eugene must be protected at all costs). The mystery wears really thin by the second half and the rinse-repeat cycle of Wednesday thinking she's cracked the mystery and dramatically accusing the assumed villain got repetitive. The highpoint for me were the first few eps capping off with that incredible school dance with Ortega's killer moves and that climactic Carrie-esque bloodrain (god what a cool scene). I wish Burton had directed the whole thing. All that being said, I still think it's a really solid first season and I enjoyed it more or less the whole way through. Amazing production value for a TV project with impressive makeup effects, fun goth outfits (Colleen Atwood at it again), detailed sets, and a killer soundtrack. Also loved that Thing despite being just a disembodied hand felt like a character in its own right and the dramatic Thing moment in Ep. 7 was another highlight for the show and for Ortega's acting. And speaking of Ep. 7, put Uncle Fester down as another delightful guest spot for Fred Armisen. Dude pops up everywhere and is always fun to watch. I'm in for season 2.
