.............but we don't have one apparently for female tennis players - because I dont really care -  - and neither do you chief - because you could make a thread too Mr. Feminism - grrrrr ......... but maybe that's because Serena is more clearly the GOAT than any of the men are.........because those Djoko / Nadal / Federer threads aren't even close to being over people (looking at you ibbi!) - hmmmmmmm. Not officially "saying" it, but kind of saying it, in Vogue. How awesome would it be if she won the US Open and retired?
GOAT or maybe Steffi? Steffi retired at 30 and Serena retireds- if she does - at 40.......she's hard to argue against though sometimes you see people make a case for Steffi .........and a good one in that "Borg way".........and Steffi is that all-time percentage winner in her matches male or female. AS I'VE SAID, I find these arguments too stupid to bear, and too often bringing out such blitheringly stupid arguments I've heard repeated ad nauseum that I cannot bear to get into one more time. All I'll say is that 15-20 years ago when the WTA had its last true golden age (and maybe the most golden of all the golden ages in the womens game) she was the best of them. What she has been doing since then, racking up numbers against a succession of absolute plebs, has not impressed me one bit. Her claim to greatness is rooted primarily in that 2002-03 period where she had to have been among the pound-for-pound greatest athletes on the planet, and watching her fly around the court in those days was unreal. Other than that, I think she's a detestable cunt and I cannot stand her or her comically outsized ego. Never forget: Good riddance.  |
