I would be very interested in the vote tally for Adapted, because I saw a way six of these films could've won it, and I bet it was a very close call. Actually thought the board's Mann love in general would've translated here. Guess not.

Now this is a Magnolia win I can cosign. Sorry, Galaxy Quest.

And I think Mann is still a Best Director contender.

I ain't no American Beauty hater but I thought the movie was kinda dismissed on here. This is how a safe win can become a shocker!

I love that we are just so on the same wavelength about this shit that our posts are almost identical.

Side note, I think all the good movies split the vote in director.

I voted for Cusack, but Farnsworth is more than worthy.

I ain't no American Beauty hater but I thought the movie was kinda dismissed on here. This is how a safe win can become a shocker! The Mendes win shocks me because the competition is so strong and all of the other films have extremely loud supporters here, and obviously American Beauty's stock has plummeted in recent years. I would imagine there is a small but loyal contingent still around who may not be as vocal, and the rest of the fandoms split the votes.

It's very good work, but Belmont and Dequenne and Roth really leave her in the dust. And I highly doubt all 26 voters even saw the first two.

I think the lack of a consensus #2 made it so Swank would repeat.
