so one takeaway is that these nods reflect that there's just waaay too much TV right now and even if Emmy voters had the inclination to actually watch shows (they don't), they wouldn't be able to see half of the contenders.
a rundown of buzzy series that got completely blanked even for craft categories: - Yellowstone (ironically 1883 got a couple) - Outlander - Tokyo Vice - Minx - You - Girls5eva - Brand New Cherry Flavor - Julia - Better Things - We Own This City
and then you have one-hit wonders like The Gilded Age, Winning Time and Peacemaker that were supposed to be new flagship IPs for HBO Max but only scored one craft nod each. HBO scored the most noms overall but only for a couple different shows and they had far more misses than hits. And then you have Emmy heavyweights like black-ish and This Is Us that were almost completely shut out for their final seasons, not like anyone here is crying about that but it's a shocking absence nonetheless.
And we have to talk about the fact that most of the limited series acting noms are for White Lotus and Dopesick (that supporting actress category is ridiculous), most of the comedy acting noms are for Ted Lasso, and most of the drama acting noms are for Succession/Severance (the last two make up a whopping 51% of the drama acting field). Just like last year, these picks are monotonous. Surely they could've spread the love some more instead of just picking the handful of shows they liked and nominated EVERYONE on the damn cast.

Just like last year, these picks are monotonous. First off, thank you for creating the Nominations thread. I have a similar takeaway as well. My biggest observation was Network shows being non-existent or at the brink of extinction. Only Abbott Elementary scored any major nominations. We didn't see Ghosts, This is Us or Black-ish make the line-up. The bulk of the nominations came from Apple, HBO, Hulu and Netflix.
I was a bit surprised Maid didn't get nominations for Best Limited Series or Supporting Actress for McDowell. It did get actress, writing and directing, which is a real plus.
There's way too much television (isn't a bad thing per say), but it does lead to shows getting multiple acting, directing, and writing nominations.
Other quick observations was Reese Witherspoon getting nominated over Jennifer Aniston. Sarah Niles and Toheeb Jimoh getting supporting nods for Ted Lasso. Sam Richardson getting a nomination for his role as Edwin Akufo was absolutely well-deserved.

I saw Euphoria's S02E05 yesterday, and that was indeed overwhelming. The first act is one of the heaviest and most depressing things I've ever seen, and the second act, (the chase) , was unnerving and hilarious at the same time. I saw it while I was having lunch, which was definitely a bad idea, because I almost choked on my food... And the last act, with all that Hitchcokian suspense, was pretty great. Zendaya carried the whole thing like a champ. I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up winning.
