It's alright. Taika did justice for Jane's arc. Natalie Portman shined in her role and she is the MVP of the film. She brought freshness and heart to the movie. Taika promised a lot of Gorr (read gore) but ended up under utilizing the character and Christian Bale. Made Thor the least interesting character in onw his movie. Also doubled down on his mark of humor at the expense of stakes and action.
Felt like the movie wanted to settle for less even if it has the material to knock a punch. I thought i was watching a Disney+ holiday special instead of a big screen space adventure. Thankfully the last act made for it with cool visuals and some good work from Christian Bale. So yeah, it ended well- 6.5/10
P.S.: Even with gods and monsters roaming somehow the movie felt small and the action looked weightless. A recurring problem with Marel movies these days.

This was good, even if a big step-down from Ragnarok.
Suffered because Watiti clearly had no idea what to do with the GotG and just wanted them out of the way, but after they are it improves.
While Portman and Bale are very good, I'd say Crowe steals the, huh, thunder every moment he's on the screen. Hilarious.

I agree that it's a step down from Ragnarok.
Hemsworth's daughter being 'Love' is pretty cute though.

Portman’s great, I’ll give it that. But I basically thought this was a fast food movie. It’s filling, but now I’m just onto the next meal.

If Waititi's humor was the icing on the cake of Ragnarok, this film is all icing and makes your stomach ache very quickly.

Oh god I'm going to think this is the worst Marvel movie ever Didn't don't really comment on the movie before but this might be like my second or third favorite MCU movie. I'm not a big fan so I'm not the one to ask but it takes the MCU as seriously as I take it which is not at all. Certainly don't see how anyone could think it's worse than the joyless Russo Brothers dirges but apparently some people do with the mixed fan response.

I've never clicked with Marvel humor, and Ragnarok was Marvel humor at its most insufferable. There was *one* funny bit (Anthony Hopkins as Loki saying "Oh shit" when Thor shows up), but aside from that, none of it worked for me.

Insufferable. At this point Marvel movies could be turned into a sitcom or something given how uninteresting the story is and how much humor they cram into it. This is also insanely unfocused and tonally all over the place to the point that I question whether they actually are trying to make coherent movies anymore. For me the worst Marvel film yet, which is saying something after the absolute shitshow of the last Marvel year.

Second petition for Crowe to get a Zeus solo movie that's a broad R rated raunch comedy. The MCU would never though.
Any kind of Greek pantheon farcical comedy could be so good.

There're some decent ideas here but what turns the movie average is their execution. The mode in which Waititi seems to be operating is so lightweight that there's barely a scene that makes an impact. The funny stuff is indeed pretty funny but neither the action nor the drama elicit much of a reaction. Scenes just happen and go away without even a whisper of actual resonance.

The good: CHRISTIAN BALE CHRISTIAN BALE CHRISTIAN GOD BUTCHER BALE TAKE ME DADDY
The bad: It's a Taika Waititi movie and I believe the villain was morally right
