As far as I can tell, only Helen Hunt and Helen Mirren have managed this previously (please correct me if I'm wrong!). So, what do you think? Will the afterglow love continue for Chastain for her stellar work in Scenes from a Marriage?

She might not even get nominated tbh. I'd say she's in the 4th-6th range right now.

I am not entirely sure how the cycles worked back in the 1970s, but Glenda Jackson won an Oscar, then an Emmy, then another Emmy, and then another Oscar in a four-year span, and I'm not sure if any of those had overlap.
Anyway, I'm not following the race much this year, so I'm no help in the Chastain scenario.

Hunt won both awards in 1998 and Mirren did the same in 2007.

I think the afterglow is enough to get her in but Scenes of a Marriage was so overlooked that I wouldn't be shocked to see her snubbed either.

Well damn.
She would have been much more worthy than many of those actually nominated…

Well damn. She would have been much more worthy than many of those actually nominated… Have you watched them all?? There's no way she's as good as Paulson, who I normally can't even stand, or Qualley. Not as good as Collette either, though she shouldn't even be in that category, so that one I could live with. Obviously she's better than Lily James. Not seen the other two yet.

ibbi - I have, you beast. I think she’s better than all of the other nominees save Qualley.

How about your boy Michael Showalter directing an Oscar- and an Emmy-winning performance in the same year! This has got to be the first time this has ever happened, right?

Do you want her to win SAG over Emily Blunt in The English? Oh yeah. Off the top of my head, you’d have to go back to Blanchett in Mrs. America for a television performance I’d take over it.
