Whoa at that Top Gun number. It's definitely lifting off and beyond at the box office. That's fine for Bob's Burgers too, I suppose. Expect it to be way more frontloaded, though.

That's an excellent start for Top Gun. With the reviews/WOM this is going to do phenomenal box-office.

Adult-oriented films are finally starting to feel the need for speed again.

Projections are 140 mil for this now. People saying 90 mil and stuff earlier just seemed way low to me. There was so much excitement for this, almost like an MCU movie. Audiences seem to really like it as well so the legs should be good especially with nothing much coming out next weekend before Jurassic World.

Excellent for Top Gun. It keeps rising and rising, also it got a cinemascore of A+. 500m is happening.

Taking the box office’s breath away.
Seriously, this is like a full circle moment for Cruise. His box office might was on the wane (compared to his box office pull 20-25 years ago) these past years with his Mission Impossible franchise being his go to box office lifeline and now the long-awaited sequel to the film that made him the biggest movie star in the world is making him the toast of the industry again and a “savior” of the theater going experience.

I love that he's committed to his movies being released theatrically, and theatrically only, and it's paying off in a huge way.

Damn, it beat even the improved projections I heard a few days ago. Pretty much an MCU type opening. Cruise is obviously still a huge draw and Top Gun is just such a classic film that everyone's seen.

Incredible opening. I'm really interested in how the legs turn out - the WOM is fantastic and it might just have the chance to match the original's total admissions.

I think the big opening is more to do with the goodwill of Cruise as action hero and the stellar reviews.
